December 22, 2022 marked the start of my journey with Techstars. Securing a live 1:1 session with David Cohen, co-founder & CEO of Techstars, felt like winning the lottery. The 15 minutes he gifted me significantly advanced my approach with PairAnything (Techstars ‘24). From that moment on, I immersed myself in the #Techstars way. In the fall of 2023, my team and I were accepted into Techstars #RisingStar supporting underrepresented founders. I attended my first #FounderCon in SF, meeting many amazing, like-minded founders. Now, my team and I are soaking in our remaining time with amazing fellow founders-turned-friends and the top-notch program team (Neal Sales-Griffin Lilliana Robinson Sophie Davis Chloe Lannert & others) as we conclude the Techstars Oakland Spring 2024 Accelerator. I deeply embrace the #GiveFirst mindset. 🫶🏽 I take a moment to reflect and express gratitude 🙏 for my transformative experience at Techstars. We just wrapped up week 1 of Techstars and I can't even put into words how life changing this week was. From the structured lectures, to meeting investors excited about Myna (3 meetings next week!), it was a whirlwind of a time here in San Diego. Even more amazing than that was the emphasis that Techstars put on the founders- on us as people. Some highlights: * The connection: Silently walking with another founder we were randomly paired with, and listening to them talk for 15 minutes without responding. I learned that me and another founder shared a common bond over Asian identity growing up in the rural south. * The Give first mindset: As each team showcased their demos, the other teams immediately went to work to help in any way they could. Melvin and I connected the supply chain optimization startup with a potential customer who needs their exact product, and founders in the restaurant space immediately began setting us to their own connections. Everyone wanted to help each other. * The Community: CXOs had a time where they could just be paired into groups and share with each other our struggles, questions, and more. I learned so much from the other CEOs, and I realized I'm not alone in my thoughts. * The amazing people: We had UN peacekeepers, Gobi desert travelers hallucinating in the desert, and even a founder who raced goats with Richard Branson.... yes goats not boats * The network: There is no network like the Techstars network. Any person we could have even thought of wanting to speak to is one or two connections away through the network. Also being on a boat spending time with this amazing group of future unicorn founders doesn't hurt either. I'm more fired up than ever. This is just the start for Myna. Stay tuned.
