The aircraft that’s reshaping global travel. This isn’t just a map; it’s a revolution in aviation. The Airbus A321XLR is changing the game by making long-haul travel from smaller regional airports possible. What used to require a stop at major hubs like Heathrow or Dubai can now be a direct flight, thanks to this narrow-body jet’s extra-long range. Here’s why it matters: 1️⃣ Regional airports can now offer direct flights to destinations across the globe. 2️⃣ Airlines can cut costs by serving long-haul routes without needing large aircraft. 3️⃣ Passengers get more convenience and choice — fewer layovers, faster journeys. For cities like Manchester (MAN), Fortaleza, and Nairobi, the A321XLR opens up opportunities for direct connections that were never possible before. This could be a leap in technology; it’s a leap in how we experience travel - but is is sustainable? What do you think? Will this aircraft reshape travel as we know it? P.S. If you fly one of these routes soon, let me know your thoughts! #A321XLR #Airbus #SustainableAviation <Source: https://lnkd.in/eGchJdDp>

Paul Perera I think there is a wonderful irony in this emphasis by Airbus on ultra-thin long-haul flying. 20 years ago, it was Boeing saying that the hub-and-spoke model epitomized by the A380 would soon be dead and the future for long-haul was thin point-to-point. I don't believe Airbus ever officially said that they were wrong and Boeing right. But actions speak louder than words. Ironically, it was around 20 years ago that Boeing stopped production of the B757, thinking that long haul would only be for twin-aisle aircraft like the B787. Those B757s have pretty much all been replaced by A321s of one variety or another because Boeing never offered an aircraft that matched it closely enough. 10 years ago, Boeing were working on the New Mid-sized Airplane (NMA). They took out a patent on an oval fuselage giving the width of a twin-aisle with the cross-sectional area and cargo capacity close to a single aisle aircraft. I imagine any new Boeing aircraft in this sector will now look more like the single-aisle B757, which has a similar fuselage cross-section to the A321, but a ~45% larger wing. In fact, something that looks almost identical to the B757 but with B787 technology would probably cause some sleepless nights in Toulouse.
