I'm against early-revenue startups going to conferences unless it's free. I might have found an exception with #saasnorth as it was quite an interesting conference last week. Much like #ALLIN2024 , I loved its size—a size that made it feel more like a community gathering than a mass gathering. Many people offered me intros to potential customers, and that's the best way to vibe-check the existence, or lack thereof, of a community. That doesn't happen much, if at all, at Collision/Websummit and other big tech events. The contrast with #GITEX Dubai, where I was invited a month earlier, couldn't have been sharper. With over 100,000 attendees, GITEX is overwhelming in every possible sense - much to its detriment. GITEX felt full of tourists, while SaaS North and All In felt full of talent. More early-stage Quebec startups, especially those in the early stages, should attend SaaSNorth over Collision/Websummit (if free or heavily discounted, of course - otherwise, keep grinding queens and kings...). Our attendance at SaaSNorth was possible thanks to BMO, who awarded us their innovation award as we graduated from Creative Destruction Lab in May. Last year, we wandered through GITEX GLOBAL Largest Tech & Startup Show in the World as a curious visitor, soaking in the creativity and innovation flowing through the halls. Fast forward to last month this year, we went there as an exhibitor! As we stood proudly at our booth for Serri - World's Coolest AI CRM, I realized that it's more than just a platform for showcasing products-it's a beautiful collection of hopes and dreams from entrepreneurs from around the globe. This experience was very different this time. Conversations Over Products: This year, we focused on meaningful dialogues. we wanted to understand not just what people do, but why they do it. The stories were as inspiring as the technologies themselves! Dare to Be Different: Our approach was bold- challenging the norms of our industry and sparking conversations around innovation not just in technology but in the way we live and engage with each other.
