Go Oilers! 🏒 If you're in Norway, you likely know the Stavanger Oilers hockey team. And if you're a fan like us, there's a good chance you've spotted our new sponsor ad during one of their matches at DNB Arena. At IK Group, we're proud to be a platinum sponsor of the Oilers. Why? Because we see ourselves reflected in their values and drive. Like the Oilers, we believe in teamwork, resilience, and always striving for excellence. Their "never give up" attitude resonates with us—whether on the ice or in engineering solutions for the energy industry. But this partnership is about more than just a logo on a screen. Supporting the Oilers and highlighting Henrik Holm's brilliant saves in every game is about connecting with our community and celebrating the power of teamwork and collaboration. Sports bring people together, inspire passion, and foster a winning mindset—qualities that align perfectly with who we are as a company. So, next time you're cheering for the Oilers at DNB Arena, keep an eye on the big screen for our 10-second ad. It's a reminder of what we stand for: working together to achieve great things. 🚀 Here's to big wins—both on and off the rink. 😉 #oilandgas #engineering #oneteam I Fabel Media I Paula Hewitt

Not to see my job in everything (even if Carmel is home to MISO, a gold-medal RTO), but the energy storage sector at large is like a swim team, with different member technologies that have comparative advantages for different areas of competition. And not to see economics in everything (even harder), but specialization of labor and other inputs -- including grid resources -- happens in free markets and other rivalrous settings (including Carmel youth swimming, where one of my kids excelled in smiling zig-zag backstroke). Just as the Carmel High School swim coaches can see different kids and their skills and place them in the right events, grid planners and operators could apply different storage resources in different ways according to their comparative advantages. Should different energy storage technologies stay in certain grid/market services and grid planning "lanes"? It might add some helpful certainty that might gives grid operators and planners more comfort. Sure, we need more transmission. But storage can complement as well as replace or defer transmission investment -- and those are good things if the idea is to optimize grid expansion.

How to select the right position for your swimming pool? 1. Consider a sunny place, the light will bring a sparkling feeling to the pool, adding a bright beauty and more attractive pool, but also can warm the pool water, improve comfort. 2. Consider the surrounding environment, the pool should be coordinated with the overall environment of the villa courtyard, create a casual and comfortable atmosphere, and try to avoid being near the chaotic area, which will affect the experience of using the pool. 3. Considering the construction area, look at the construction area of the villa courtyard pool, and design the pool that meets the needs according to the actual situation. Directly from the ground will reduce the construction cost and facilitate the construction and installation. Fiberglass swimming pool also is a very nice plan. NOT IN MY NAME come to mind? Is the UK selling out to fossil fuels (1, 2)? And is Great Britain selling its name (Britannia) to petrochemicals giant INEOS for £100 million, to be spent on America's cup (3)? The UK already gave INEOS £600 million in backing for it's "carbon bomb" petrochemical plant in the Netherlands (4) (1) A week ago today we heard that £22 billion of UK tax payers money is to be spent on fossil fuels' carbon capture and storage that does not work and will never compete with not burning fossil fuels in the first place and spending money on real solutions. Post here https://lnkd.in/euCx_EyR? (2) These £22 billion are in addition to the $7 trillion that fossil fuels received worldwide as they are neither explicit subsidies ($1.3 trillion) or implicit subsidies ($5.7 trillion), that cover undercharging for environmental costs and forgone consumption taxes. IMF study here https://lnkd.in/e2AH3eZy (3) Today its another fossil fuels company's win. Petrochemicals' giant INEOS that has associated its name with the UK for £100 million it will apparently spend on the America's cup. This is probably the best return of investment of the $5.3 billion spent on sportswashing. https://lnkd.in/eQknUc_y What a great promotion for INEOS, the UK, not so much. UK's image is further tarnished by associating itself yet again with fossil fuels and petrochemicals. (4) UK gives £600m backing to Jim Ratcliffe’s ‘carbon bomb’ petrochemical plant https://lnkd.in/eE3pm5sH #unitedkingdom #fossilfuels #petrochemicals #greatbritain https://lnkd.in/eBDsQBim

While the risk of solar panel fires is relatively low, by understanding potential causes, impacts, and implementing rigorous mitigation strategies, the risk can be significantly reduced, enhancing the safety and reliability of solar energy systems. https://lnkd.in/gUUzKpUR

Ready, aim, throw! Drawing a comparison between axe throwing and the energy industry might seem unconventional, however on a closer inspection both fields share intriguing parallels that highlight their unique characteristics and the importance of innovation, precision and continuous learning and improvement. Axe throwing without stating the obvious is a pretty niche sport. Niche sports often lead the way in innovation, whether through the development of new equipment, training methods, or organizational structures, sound familiar? Niche sports can also foster strong local and international communities bringing together like-minded individuals, creating a sense of belonging and camaraderie among participants and fans. It is with this sense of belonging and camaraderie Oak Hall Consulting Ltd are proud to announce we are funding one of our own on her journey back to the World Championships! Ceola McGowan will be defending her title of World Double Bit Axe Throwing Champion this year in August 2024, and we couldn’t be more delighted to be a part of this journey. As Ceola herself will tell you mastery of axe throwing requires practice, skill development, and consistent training to improve technique and accuracy. As professionals in the energy industry, we can most certainly attest to the challenges of constant change, need for innovation and reinvention, continuous learning and education and remaining up to date with all policy, technology, regulatory and industry change and best practice. Like our top of the axe throwing league Ceola, Oak Hall prides itself on being top in class for energy advisory, innovation and support – to all those entering or growing in the Irish and Northern Irish gas and electricity Markets get in touch! We wish Ceola the best of luck for her upcoming competition where we know she will kick some axe! Watch this space for more updates about the current world champion going for gold again. #nichesports #innovation #energy #renewable #marketentry #ireland #northernireland #gas #electricity #sponsorship #irishaxethrower #axethrow #axethrowing #worldchampionships #supportlocal

Check out this promotional video from the swimming GOAT. Of interest is Michael Phelps home is now powered by 90 x 410 Watt Panasonic PV modules (panels) = 36.9 kWdc. The expected generation where he lives in Arizona is 53 MWh (i.e. 53,000 kWh = 1,436kWh/kWp). To give context, the same 36.9kWdc system located in Calgary (assume 4:12, due south) would yield somewhere close to 1,200kWh/kWdc which would be ~44MWh (i.e. 44,000 kWh). Not bad... Phelps has battery storage which remains a nice-to-have at this time, especially in Western Canada. That said, we are likely not far from residential battery storage becoming commonplace for myriad reasons, peace of mind among them. What I also found interesting is that while Michael Phelps has a relatively state of the art PV + storage solution for his home, he is still charging off a Tesla mobile connector (i.e. up to 32A) vs a Tesla Wall Connector. Not that there is anything wrong with that 😉 (I still use this) but a bit surprising that Michael and/or his electrical/solar contractor has not moved him to a more permanent and faster L2 charging solution. I guess the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" rings true here. At any rate, if you don't believe me, take it from the GOAT, solar just makes sense. In Arizona. In Alberta. https://lnkd.in/gnsw4xmJ

Incredible findings from New Weather Institute in this new report: Fossil fuel companies are spending at least *$5.6 billion* on sponsorship of global sport across 205 active deals. That's everything from football to motorsports to cycling, stadiums to strips, all sponsored by major polluters. And why would corporations like Shell and Aramco want to do this? To generate positive social attitudes towards them, despite the harm that they cause us all. We need a ban on all fossil fuel advertising and sponsorship to remove the influence of these corporations from our lives. #BanFossilAds https://lnkd.in/di5DFvYi
