#OlympicGames #GoldMedals #US During the vast majority of the 20th century, the U.S. won 10% of Summer Olympic medals. Among the sports with the highest medal counts are track and field and swimming, with 344 and 257 gold medals, respectively. American swimmer, Michael Phelps, has won more medals than any Olympic athlete ever, with 23 gold medals under his belt. Going further, almost 25% of all U.S. gold medals in Summer Olympic sports are from swimming. Ranking in second is the former Soviet Union, with 395 gold medals. During a period of heightened focus on elite athleticism during the Cold War, the USSR earned more medals than any other country during the 1956-1992 Summer Olympics, with the exception of 1968. It even won the most medals in 1992 after the dissolution of the “Soviet Union”. With 284 Summer Olympic gold medals, Great Britain falls next, thanks to its success in rowing, cycling, and track and field. Between 1984 and 2016, the Great Britain Team won a gold medal in rowing at every Summer Olympics game. Since returning to the Summer Olympics in 1984 after 30-year absence, China ranks fourth worldwide. Approximately 75% of Olympic gold medals have come from six sports, all found in the Summer Olympic Games. These include the undeniable success in table tennis, diving, shooting, weight lifting, and gymnastics. Not only that, two-thirds of China’s Summer and Winter Olympic gold medals are won by women. I miss the Olympics I miss the Swimming at the start, Athletics in the middle and Weightlifting at the end The past Olympics were iconic and not just because of : -The return to the Seine for the triathlon -The opening ceremony that was not confined to a stadium -Snoop Dogg holding the Torch -The Netflix buildup for Biles and Lyles -Botswana sweeping the track -The legendary kangaroo move -Athletes allowed to post during the Olympics -China matching the USA on gold medals -So many iconic moments and images The four year wait seems like a lifetime. We need our fix of track, field and gym and we need it now Mini-lympics A survey of 500 elite athletes found that 58% of them do not consider themselves financially stable. Imagine the creation of a mini-lympics, held every year by previous Olympics holders/bidders thereby utilising all the previously infrastructure built. The number of sports can be reduced from 40 to 20/10 sports. It would need to align with the Diamond League schedule for athletics and be one/two weeks long only. It will allow athletes to maximize on their earning and exposure during the non- Olympic years. But please don't call it the mini-lympics as that is a terrible name, give it a cool, athletic name. #olympics Reference https://lnkd.in/dfghDxEH

👟How did Cole Hocker 🇺🇸 make the good strategic race in the 1500m and won the gold 🏅 against the two favourites, Josh Kerr 🇬🇧 and Jakob Ingebrigtsen 🇧🇻? ▶️Remember Dame Kelly Holmes 🇬🇧 and her gold medal 🏅 in Athens for the women 1500m in 2004? She started last, she was the last but one in the first two laps. It is only in the last lap that she started to overtake a few runners, and the last bend and the last straight that she took the lead and won. How could she mentally still believe that she could win seeing so many competitors in front? 🧠Because she had trained a lot and had learnt to run at a constant pace. She knew her body quite well, she didn’t need the pace maker to maintain her pace and she knew she should speed up in the last lap and especially in the last straight. Lord Sebastian Coe, now president of World Athletics, also overtook his opponent in the last straight to win his gold medal 🏅in Moscow in 1980. ▶️Today, we know with mathematics, with science that this is the best way to run a 1500 meters👉https://lnkd.in/eVdRxpw7 You have to start not too slowly to start your aerobic system as quickly as possible, and those who have a quick aerobic kinetics do not need to start strongly. Keeping a regular pace and speeding up in the last lap and a lot in the last straight is the best strategy. But to do this, you cannot start first from the beginning. Being first is mentally very tiring. ▶️What happened to the ones who lead the race? The Norwegian champion Jakob Ingebrigsten and the two Kenyan runners. They could not keep the pace at the end. This was also the mistake of the French athlete in the semi final. ▶️In the old days, athletes like Kelly Holmes learnt to know their pace just observing their body and sensations. Jakob Ingebrigsten usually starts last and speeds up only in the last two laps. Why did he change his strategy? Too much pressure from the British athlete who had won the gold in Budapest, Josh Kerr? In any case, he lost a lot of energy watching him all the time. An athlete has a brain, and the more you reduce the interaction between brain and muscles, the better the performance. This is why it is better running behind because you do not need to think about your pace, you just follow as if you were tied in and it saves you energy for the end of the race. This is the strategy that the American 🇺🇸 champion Cole Hocker chose. He decided to accelerate in the last bend and he managed to overtake everybody by the inside as Ingerbrigsten was watching Kerr overtaking him on the other side. But to remain behind and have the mental capacity to win means being a champion. ▶️When you go running, do go with a friend, but do not let your brain be attracted by distraction; and as in the old days, you should know your pace from inside, even if you are surrounded by technology. In this video, we dive into practical tips on building resilience, embracing your mistakes, and turning failures into opportunities for growth, just like the Olympians do. Remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback! 💪 Here are the top 5 USA Olympians who bounced back from failure: 1. Michael Phelps - After struggling with personal issues and a disappointing performance at the 2012 London Olympics, Phelps made an incredible comeback at the 2016 Rio Olympics, winning five gold medals and one silver. 2. Simone Biles - After facing mental health challenges and unexpected withdrawals during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Biles made an inspiring comeback and won gold today, showcasing her resilience and determination. 3. Kane, Bellingham, Foden, Rice. - Declan Rice covered 11.01km. - Phil Foden completed 40 passes. - Jude Bellingham was fouled 3 times. - Harry Kane took 2 shots, one being a converted penalty in the game against the Netherlands. ↓↓↓ Football has impact, frequent changes of speed and direction, substitutions... → Endurance sports, like running and cycling, on the other hand, are often one dimensional with continuous sustained efforts. That's just 1 way they differ to sports like football. - Alexander Munyao ran 42.2km in 2:04:01 at The London Marathon 2024. - Mark Cavendish took a historic 35th Tour de France stage win reaching 70.6km/h. - Remco Evenepoel averaged a blistering 52.58km/h across 25.3km to win the time trail in this year's Tour. ↓↓↓ We know that a footballer's training plan looks very different to a marathon runner's... So why is this philosophy NOT applied to Strength and conditioning? Runners, cyclists and triathletes often follow a strength training plan that IS NOT MADE FOR ENDURANCE SPORTS. And this means... → Performance is affected. → Time is not maximised. → Progress is hindered. It starts with this consideration... Is your strength training respecting the needs of your endurance sport? Do you agree? ♻ Please repost this and share it with your network if you agree, and follow me, Emma O'Toole and BUILT TO ENDURE, for more. #football #euros #strengthtraining #endurance #running #cycling #triathlon

Congrats to Simone Biles!! This WOMAN just 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽won a record ninth all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, earning her an automatic berth in the U.S. Olympic trials ahead of the Paris Games. . U.S. Olympians, as reported by Newsweek, earn $37,500 💰for each gold medal, $22,500 for silver, and $15,000 for bronze. From her performances at the Tokyo Olympics, Biles earned at least $37,500, highlighting the fact that her financial success stems from various sources beyond just her competitive winnings. . Gymnasts that win the ultimate prize – an Olympic medal,🥇🥇are often rewarded by the government as recognition for their success. Whilst the IOC doesn't 🧐hand out prize money themselves, pretty much every country in the world pays 💸💸💸their gymnasts per medal won. . As a highly decorated, famous gymnast, 🏅🏅🏅🏅Biles' face and name is worth a lot in the world of ad campaigns and product lines. According to a Forbes estimate, she earns at least $5 million annually in endorsements.. . #endorsementdeals #femalesports #investments #moneymanagement #femaleatheletes #USA #usagymnastics #competition #opportunitiesforwomen #moneymanagement #financialabuse #femalefinancialadvisor #investmentstrategy #nyse #stockstrader #inheritance #womanownedbusiness #nike #financialmanagement #womensports #olympics2024paris #endorsementmoney #olympicmedal #financialsuccess #financialplanning #financialstrategy #winners #gymnastics

#RaiseYourFlag 🇵🇭 A Win for One is a Celebration for All! 🥳 Two-Time Olympic 🥇🥇Medalist- Carlos Yulo Recently, my country celebrated as we bagged 2 Gold Olympic Medals in Gymnastics 🤸♂️ . This young man made it looks smooth and easy. Though we know that every biggest achievement there is, it requires mental discipline backed with strong determination. You see, that’s what separates the good from the great. And that’s the difference of an Elite Athlete. Before winning the Olympic Gold Medal, Carlos Yulo had to go through winning 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ different medals from different competitions. And if I may quote from #Milo, “Great things start from small beginnings.” Think of it the next time you see someone winning in whatever field. Before they reach the pinnacle of success, it’s not a walk in the park. There is no short cut to success. If there is, surely it won’t last. It’s a process that a person needs to understand what they will do on their losing days, how they keep their feet on the ground during their winning days, the discipline they instill during their lazy days, and how they will stand up again for every fall. It’s a constant work of what you do with your weakness and how you make the most of your strength it. That is what “Forte” means. One develops it over time. Hence, almost always, copying and imitating never win in life. Start discovering what you are and what you are not. After all, a long journey begins with a single step. As the 🇫🇷 Paris Olympics 2024 soon concludes, may this inspires young people from around the world that though nothing is impossible you have to be willing to be coached, to be trained, to learn, to defy the odds. Like every athletes, may we also triumph in the field we choose to be in. 💪🏻 Mabuhay Ka, Caloy! 🤩 Maraming Salamat! 🙌🏼 #PhilippinePride #ParisOlympics2024 #Gymnastics #GoldMedalist #Triumph
