Dual Enrollment and AP-Optioned classes are an opportunity for schools to push students forward in their academic progress. Since COVID, many institutions have struggled to bring students back to pre-pandemic levels. Using an elevated and refined curriculum, expecting more from our students, and supporting teachers in their facilitation is how we do it! Believe in them so they can believe in themselves. #PushOurStudentsForward

Students aren’t gaining ground fast enough in reading and math to make up for the academic effects of the pandemic, according to new data released today from the assessment provider NWEA. And in many cases, these academic gaps are getting wider. The report, which analyzed test scores from 6.7 million U.S. public school students in grades 3-8, found that students are still making progress at a slower rate than their peers were pre-COVID. #pandemic #remoteeducation #kids

As the world recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic, its impact on education remains a critical concern. Recent SATS results from England show mixed progress among Year 6 pupils in reading, writing, and maths. While 61% of pupils reached the expected standards, a slight improvement from 60% last year, this is still below the 65% achieved in 2019. These incremental gains highlight the ongoing challenges in returning to pre-pandemic education levels. Breaking down the results, we see 74% of pupils reached the expected level in reading, 73% in maths, 72% in writing, and 81% in science. Despite these gains, the government has voiced concerns about the number of pupils not meeting expected standards, emphasizing the need for continued focus and improvement. The ambitious target of having 90% of pupils meet these standards by 2030 remains uncertain, pending confirmation from the Department for Education. While statistics offer a snapshot of progress, they don't capture the full story. The past few years have presented unprecedented challenges for students, teachers, and parents alike, from remote learning to mental health impacts. What do you think are the main reasons for the slower recovery in education standards post-pandemic? How can schools and communities better support struggling students? #primaryeducation #SATSresults #primaryschool SMART Education Recruitment Joanne Prince Sarah Piercy Nico Sidhu Sarah Satchwell Pippa Lee Graham Kelly Phoebe Thompson Francesca Sandiford Fiona Moss Elaine Woodward Hema K. 🏫 Girls’ reading and maths skills were hit harder by the #pandemic than boys’, a new report has found 👇 Boys have narrowed the gap with girls in reading ability since #lockdown, while also pulling further ahead in primary school #maths. The Education Policy Institute analysed the results of more than six million reading and maths tests taken by pupils between the age of seven and 14 in 2022-23 and compared them to the previous five years. It found that in primary reading, boys are now 3.1 months behind girls, compared to 4.1 months prior to the pandemic. In secondary reading, outcomes for girls fell while boys’ results were largely the same, narrowing girls’ lead by 1.2 months to 4.4 months. Prof Alan Smithers says students and parents who were born in the #UK take a world-class education for granted. Girls have fallen a further two months behind boys in maths at primary school, putting the gender gap at 2.9 months in favour of boys. Meanwhile, in secondary maths, boys have caught up with girls, and are now 0.3 months behind their female classmates, compared to 3.6 months prior to the pandemic. Imagine an education system like this: 🚫 Having to share 23 math books between 6 periods and 200 students 🚫 Middle & High schools with no science labs 🚫 No world languages or electives taught in schools 🚫 Showing up to school with not enough teachers 🚫 600 Middle & High school students each period sitting in the gymnasium with 1 facilitator. 🚫 Showing up to school = a passing grade This is happening right now across the United States It's probably happening close to where you live. Teacher shortages are getting a lot of headlines But let's not ignore the fact that student equity reaches far beyond them. This doesn't have to be the way. With the right partnerships, We can make sure all students and all communities get the quality education they deserve. Every single student deserves a quality education. Help us make #EquityFor1MillionStudents a reality! #EquityFor1MillionStudents #Teachers #Education #StudentsFirst
