Most glass bottles also cause microplastics! 😧 To avoid scratches and visible damages, glass producers usually coat the bottles with an extra coating made of plastic, which is called cold coating. During production, transportation, filling, and washing procedures the bottles experience friction which causes the coating to get scratched off. 👎 Those particles can then in a next step get inside the bottles and into the beverages. As we know, the recycling and reprocessing of plastics are crucial for sustainable development. The plastic industry often gets a lot of negative attention, especially when it comes to packaging. In this unique project, Omer Ben-David, our Process Improvement Analyst, led the integration of a more sustainable packaging process, involving plastic crates that can be used multiple times, instead of disposable cardboard boxes. The change eliminates the need to buy/waste cardboard boxes while enabling packing six times more parts in one crate.
