Two things I've quickly learnt starting a small business - the power of networking and the value of actively seeking information and advice. Tuesday's workshop on Building Confidence and Capability for Women in Business beautifully rolled both into one!   Some things I’ll be actioning (my three key takeaways): 💡 You story is part of your brand – our life journey to this point is all part of who we are and why we started a business. Its part of our unique selling point and should be reflected in our brand. 💡 Value yourself – value your expertise, your time and what you bring to delivering your services. 💡 Competitor analysis isn’t a once off – as you build your business, and understand your niche and unique selling point its useful to update your competitor analysis to see where you sit in the market. Meeting this group of women who are all passionate about connecting and supporting their communities across Queanbeyan, Canberra, Bungendore, and Braidwood was energising and inspiring. How often are our lives being run by fear? 😅 Well actually, that's the way our brains are biologically programmed to work. It’s much easier and safer to stay in your comfort zone. The scariest thing? A lot of the time we don't even realise we're doing it - even us extroverts who might think we're used to taking risks! But both your personal or professional growth won’t happen here. Ironically, playing it too safe is actually risky business when it comes to reaching your potential and living the life you dream of. So how do we overcome this fear of failure? It isn’t as easy as just starting to say yes to opportunities, because discernment is so important. It's about bringing some of the unconscious stuff (happening in the subcortical, reactive area of your brain) into your prefrontal cortex where you can make logical decisions 🧠 You can learn how to take back control of your neurobiology to overcome the fear of failure at Scotland Women's Business Conference & Awards ran by Women's Business Club next Tuesday (29th Oct) in Edinburgh, where I'll be delivering an interactive workshop on this very topic at 12pm.
