📣 WHAT EMOTIONAL IMPRINT ARE YOU LEAVING, ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE??? As a philanthropic entrepreneur, we have an internal desire to serve, coming from a place thats heart-led, creating impacts and legacies that matter. I'll break it down a bit... Our eldest boy Ollie turned 11 today, so that's 11 years of me, imprinting my emotional energy from me to him, through all our interactions. Over that 11 years, some have been good, but some not so good. The change for me, was the desire to show Ollie a better way, to create a better life that would support him and his brothers in their life time and beyond, that was better than the one I was currently in, and came from. Through raising my self-awareness, becoming aware of my inner talk, and taking action to change my beliefs. I have been able to change some of these patterns, to create a better imprint. HOW WOULD A BOARD MEETING LOOK LIKE THAT FEELS ACTUALLY VALUABLE TO ALL MEMBERS INVOLVED? A group of Brafers came together and explored this question from a multitude of perspectives: the founder, the funder, the non-profit, the profit, the male, the female, the privileged and the marginalized. How do we want to shape our relationships within these teams and come to a foundation that enables us to talk about what actually matters? How can we move from polishing and selling numbers in these encounters to speak about KPIs that truly make the difference? How can we step out of this transactional role play of reporting and being reported to, and step into a valuable co-creative process in which each can bring their actual strength and perspective, so the overarching purpose benefits from it? "The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance--and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning." - Oprah Winfrey Much of my life has been service oriented, from going door to door as a kid seeking clothing to donate, to working as an intern for the public relations arm of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - ALSAC in undergrad and now serving on a variety of community boards as a business owner and attorney. Service and significance run in tandem; without commitment to the former, the latter is impossible. Business owners obviously hope that realizing their dreams of entrepreneurship will reap financial rewards, but I'd assert that those dreams cannot be realized without an emphasis on significance. Your business should seek to address a need, fill a void, or solve a problem. The significance of that solution is one aspect, but service is always part of the equation. I was particularly moved by this quote because I think it encompasses the many intricate notes involved in composing a successful business whose music will resonate beyond imagination. Most music we simply hear without factoring all of the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication behind the scenes to create such beautiful sounds. Successful businesses are often viewed the very same way. Today, I encourage you to evaluate your commitment to service and significance, and I'd bet success will be music to your ears. #businessattorney #smallbusiness #mindset

My 2024 felt like a rollercoaster, but when I looked back, I was surprised by how far I've come. 🌎 Spent 3 weeks in France over the summer 🚀 Changed jobs twice 🚫 Quit a job that wasn't a good fit 🌟 Spent my best friend's birthday in NYC 🎡 Went to Coachella for the first time 🥇 15 km race to support breast cancer awareness 💉 Donated blood 📈 Increased my side business WoofGangShop sales by 45% YTD 🛍️ Got wholesale distribution in 3 stores now 🎵 Saw Hans Zimmer live in Oakland ❤️ Took my 82-year-old 🇫🇷 grandma to LA 💡 Countless late brainstorming sessions with my tech entrepreneur husband 🐶 Attended major dog-centric events for WoofGangShop and met some celebrities (Leona Lewis, Lisa Vanderpump) 🚶♀️Walked an average of 6.5 km per day thanks to my pup Milo Progress isn't always linear, and that's okay.
