Not all blog traffic is created equal. Here’s what most businesses miss when choosing topics. 👀" Let’s talk about “empty calories” in blogging. You know, like that bag of chips you eat that never actually fills you up. 🥤🍟 HubSpot once had a blog post that racked up more traffic than any other post on their site—it was about how to type the “I don’t know” emoji (¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Millions of views, tons of traffic… but guess how many people bought something after reading it? Not many. Why? Because people looking up an emoji tutorial weren’t exactly in the market for HubSpot’s software. Here’s the takeaway: Not all traffic is worth the same. When you’re brainstorming blog topics, you want to find ones that attract readers who are also potential customers. It’s not just about boosting numbers; it’s about reaching the right audience. For example, our app MOTTIV offers fun endurance race training plans, so a post on “12-Week Half Marathon Training Plan” has great value for our customers. It brings in readers who are likely training, looking for structure, and potentially interested in your product. But a post like “Who Invented Running?” might boost our domain authority, yet it won’t get us any customers. Sure, it’s interesting, but how many curious historians need a training app? If you’re just starting out, focus your blog content on topics that your target customers would actively search for. It’s like aiming a spotlight instead of shining a flashlight everywhere. When your content is directly useful, it attracts people who are already problem-solving. And those are the people who might just stick around long enough to see how your product can help. Follow for more tips on creating content that drives targeted audiences and lowers customer acquisition costs!

Taren Gesell, You’ve made a great point about aligning content with your business goals. It’s easy to get caught up in attracting lots of visitors, but it’s more important to focus on the right ones. By creating content that speaks directly to potential customers, you can drive more meaningful interactions and boost sales. Plus, focusing on your ideal audience will help build trust and lower costly marketing efforts.
