AI won’t write you great content out of the box. In fact, it’ll probably write terrible content unless you do this. 🤖 When it comes to using AI for content creation, the biggest mistake I see is expecting it to churn out great content on its own. Spoiler alert: it won’t. Here’s why: AI doesn’t inherently know how to write senior-level content. Out of the box, it’s just compiling the averages of everything that’s already been written about a topic. That means it’s generic by nature—and generic content won’t rank, convert, or help your audience. So how do you use AI effectively? By training it. Here’s how I think about AI’s power: it can take the work of a junior-level team member and elevate it to the level of a high mid-level or low senior-level team member. But for that to happen, you need to teach it what senior-level content looks like. For example, our blog writing process starts with a prompt that’s about 20 pages long. It includes: - The headers we want included - Keywords to include - How long sentences and paragraphs should be - How many lists to use and where to use them - Where to insert bold text - And most importantly: our senior-level advice on the topic Creating that prompt took us around 20 hours, but the result? A blog post that used to take 6 hours to write now takes just 60 minutes—and can be done by junior-level team members. The lesson? If you don’t train your employees, you get bad results. If you don’t train your AI, you’ll get bad results too. AI isn’t a replacement for expertise—it’s a tool to amplify it. Use it wisely, and it can transform your content creation process while maintaining quality. 🚀 Tag your marketing person if you think they’d find this interesting—they might just thank you for it! 👇

To most, if not all, AI writing tools, "strategy" is like your sick infant you should be checking up on everyday. Maybe you haven't noticed. Check their value props. They're mostly all coming down to... "We help you auto-generate content with a few prompts, so you can save time and focus on strategy." Yeah, focus on strategy. Like it's a sick baby I need to be checking up on 24/7? A sick baby everyone who uses your product should have?? Come on. Strategy isn't something you create everyday. A good content marketing strategy can even run for years with a few edits here and there. And good as a content marketing strategy might be, it's real test is in the execution. The content piece you create. The very same things these AI writing tools are telling you to de-prioritize. And auto-generate with a few prompts. Well, good for those who want to... Focus on "strategy."

Lets Talk About Content Creation and Content Marketing. How to use AI to... skill up? There are many posts on how best to use AI to create content (at scale). But without building expertise, writing content sounds fake. I don't think using AI for writing is a good idea, at least for now with the current AI's that are generally available.
