Marketing red flags: "You don't pay unless we get you clients!" is 2024's super sketchy version of "if we don't get you clients, you'll get your money back." No, I'm not even joking. Three times in the last couple of months, I've been approached by marketing services that have made this promise. If you don't get clients, you don't pay. But, that's not true. The up-front price ranges for these services (whatever they happen to be) are $2,500 to $5,000 USD. Up. Front. "You don't pay..." Now, if they take you by the hand and show you their system, and after all of that you don't land at least one high-ticket client, you'll get your money back. But that's NOT the same as not paying until you get a client. As a marketer, it frustrates me to no end to see players in my field resort to these tactics. It reminds me of "high ticket closer" training I've done, where you say things like, "what would it cost you if you DIDN'T sign up today?" Yes, emotional selling is a thing, and yes, it works. But so does doing a good job for a reasonable rate. When you're working with startups or small businesses, you don't have to do the emotional sell. Just be straight with them, work to meet them where they're at, and cultivate a relationship that will grow with their business.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Marketing doesn't have to feel hard. Making money doesn't have to feel hard. It gets to be easy. Sharing your message gets to be easy. It can take just 10 minutes. Bevause it's an expression of who you are. What you know. What you embody. Think about the result you help people create. Own it. Double down on it. You want a business that gives you money, freedom and impact. Marketing and selling bridges the gap between your zone of genius and the impact and income. But you don't have to follow all the marketing rules and tactics that leave you feeling cold. You get to be human and share your message and invite people to work with you. Connection is what sells. That's how I help my clients. Show you how to create connection in an authentic and cozy way. That leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy. Because you're not compromising yourself, your integrity or your values. You don't need thousands of followers, your goal is to create connection-worthy moments so people can't help but feel magnetised to you. Want to know how to do this? Send me a DM and let's talk about how we can make marketing and sales much easier for you. My genius is in helping you create messaging and marketing that feels cozy. Love to chat with you to see if we're a good fit ❤️

"People buy from people they like". No. Not always. This is a common saying in Sales and it is somewhat true but also insidious. There's a big lesson here for Marketing too. How many times have we seen the following? You're an agency owner. You do marketing. Your buddy is a business owner. Buddy sells stuff. As good friends, you naturally thought if your buddy needed help growing business, then you would be the obvious choice. .....then you find out your buddy is working with Mighty because Andrew Choe bought a box of donuts and kept following up. Outrageous! Fk that guy! 😁 Well, it's not that your friend doesn't like you enough or that you haven't stayed top of mind nor is the competition just better liked. Nope. "People buy from people they TRUST". Yes! Now we're getting closer to the truth! Building a great brand that increases enterprise value is more than popularity and being liked--that's just the baseline. On top of being LIKED, you have to be TRUSTED and TRUSTWORTHY. So just remember that GTM friends and LinkedIn fam.

As a marketing agency owner, I've realized that there are two crucial pieces to succeeding in this business. First, you need to stop the leakage of current clients. This means making your delivery and service so exceptional that clients never want to leave. Even if they do eventually move on, aim for the average duration of their stay to be over a year. If you don’t fix this leakage, no matter how good your acquisition strategy is, you’ll never win. Second, finding new clients. Once you’ve fixed the leakage, focus on generating multiple ways to find new prospects. Always remember that current clients can leave anytime, so your sales pipeline should always be full of prospects. This way, if one of your big clients leaves, you won’t panic or feel desperate to make them stay. By building a strong acquisition strategy, you won’t be terrified of anyone leaving you.

Success is about speed 🏃♀️ Marketing brings you the leads. Sales closes the leads. The same way a social media manager can bring you leads, a business mentor, a marketing strategist……. But it is up to your sales team to close them. If you are waiting for leads or new inquiries to fall on your lap, it doesn’t work that way. 1. Create content that attracts those leads 2. Watch the leads roll in 3. Call the leads or prospects 4. Follow up 5. Close them & repeat. Often times I hear from clients that they need to get more clients or more sales but they end up doing double the work. Did you know that it takes significantly more work to bring in a new lead or client than it does to simply retain one? Client satisfaction is everything. This will help you build a recurring model so you have more $$$ coming in with less clients. It’s about maximizing what you have already before always trying to look for more. More is not better when your offer sucks. More is not better when your customer service sucks. More is not better when you’re just selling to sell. (Sleazy salesmen tactics) Marketing & Sales 🤝 The next time you blame your marketing, ask yourself “Did I do everything possible to maximize on my current results?” CALL THOSE LEADS.

Picking the perfect niche has little to do with marketing. Just like my picture below has little to do with my business. The most important thing is to feel genuinely excited about the people you work with. Not necessarily like a cheerleader (although that can help too…), but rather like this: Your business exists to solve a pain point. Nothing is more real than PAIN. Take a moment to contemplate that pain. Get excited about solving or alleviating that pain. That’s where businesses are born. When you create a course, making money is simply a consequence. Solving the pain is the business. When you create a lead magnet, forget that it’s supposed to generate leads, attract clients, make money, or allow you to do nice things at the end of the year as a result. The purpose of the lead magnet is to alleviate or eliminate a pain point. Think about the pain your market faces and imagine how happy your clients will feel when they’re free of it… If, at this point, you’re scratching your head, thinking, “I don’t know their real pain point…” or worse, “I’m not interested in that kind of pain; that’s not my battle…” Well, there’s no marketing strategy or tactic that can make things work for you. And even if they helped, you'd have no emotional connection to drive to endure the work. On the flip side, when you’re genuine about finding ways to solve that pain… The tendency is that you will succeed—and be able to enjoy doing nice things at the end of the year when you take a well-deserved break.
