Great read on the benefits of executive coaching, especially for organizations who are making the case for the investment for their executive teams. In coaching Directors, Vice Presidents, and C Suite players, I especially appreciate Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella's coaching experience inspiring him to encourage a shift from a "know-it-all" culture to a "learn-it-all" curiosity that drives people to unlock potential. https://lnkd.in/ehP_3py4

From Forbes: "Nadella (Microsoft's CEO) was inspired by the principles of a growth mindset. This was pivotal in his approach to reshaping Microsoft's culture as he began to understand that #coaching is a key component of employee support and success. He encouraged a shift from a "know-it-all" attitude to a "learn-it-all" curiosity. Nadella's pursuit of this strategic cultural evolution highlights the profound impact of executive coaching and how it can help high-level professionals find ways to transform themselves and their organizations for the better." Many executives recognize the benefits of effective coaching -- but most young professionals and emerging leaders don't get access to it. I built At the Core Coaching specifically for these young leaders because I believe we can reshape organizational cultures and performance for the better. #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipcoaching #forbes #growthmindset #curiosity #careerdevelopment

Why Coaching Isn't a Cornerstone in Many Organizations 🤔 Despite the proven benefits of coaching, it’s surprising how many organizations still haven’t fully embraced it as a core development strategy. Here’s why: 1. Short-Term Focus 📉 Many organizations are heavily focused on immediate results and bottom lines. Coaching is often seen as a long-term investment that doesn’t yield quick returns, making it less appealing. 2. Misconception of Cost 💰 There’s a perception that coaching is expensive. While hiring external coaches can be costly, internal coaching programs can be implemented at a lower cost, with the added benefit of building leadership capacity within the organization. 3. Lack of Understanding 🤷♂️ Many leaders misunderstand what coaching is. They equate it to mentoring, counseling, or training, rather than a process of guiding individuals to discover their own solutions. 4. Resistance to Change 🚫 Traditional hierarchical structures often prioritize command-and-control management styles. Introducing coaching can challenge established norms and meet resistance. 5. Measurement Challenges 📊 Demonstrating the return on investment (ROI) of coaching can be difficult. While there are qualitative benefits, quantifying them for skeptical stakeholders can be challenging. 6. Time Constraints ⏰ Busy managers often feel they don’t have time for coaching. They prioritize operational tasks over developmental activities. 7. Insufficient Coaching Expertise 🧑🏫 Not every manager is a natural coach. Without proper training, they may feel ill-equipped to guide their team members effectively. 8. Lack of a Coaching Culture 🌱 For coaching to be truly effective, it needs to be embedded in the organization’s culture. Without this, it can feel like an isolated initiative. Overcoming these challenges requires a shift in mindset and a commitment to long-term development. By understanding these barriers, organizations can take steps to build a coaching culture that drives performance and employee satisfaction. #ccpn #Coaching #Leadership #Management #ProfessionalDevelopment #CoachingCulture #EmployeeEngagement #CoachingSkills #LeadershipDevelopment #Mentoring #Training #ROI #ChangeManagement #OrganizationalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #ThoughtLeadership

Executive coaching isn't just for the corner office anymore, the C-suite. Gone are the days when only CEOs and top-tier executives had the privilege of personalised mentorship to navigate their leadership journey. Google, IBM, and GE - real-life examples of successful implementation of executive coaching. If they’ve bought into it, isn’t it time you did, too? And not just a one-off programme, but they promote ongoing coaching. “Executive coaching and support should be provided within the company at all times… it results in leaders refining their skills and adapting to new challenges.” I do short-term coaching, the usual six to eight sessions for the senior leadership team. But my favourite work is the ongoing coach/confidant role for those at the top, working with integrity and heart, making a difference. "Today marks Day 2 of International Coaching Week! #ICW2024. Here’s valuable insight for organizational leaders contemplating the expansion of coaching across their enterprise. Coaching in the workplace is recognized as the gold standard for fostering enduring behavior changes. For decades, executives and high-potential employees have benefited from one-to-one coaching sessions, emerging from these experiences more agile, empathetic, resilient, and emotionally intelligent. As such, business leaders are increasingly interested in expanding coaching to address challenges from retention to reskilling and transforming organizational culture. Scaling coaching effectively is essential for most organizations aiming to accelerate behavior change and achieve significant business outcomes. However, implementing coaching on a large scale can lead to chaos unless it is well-integrated. 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵? This is one of the most frequently asked questions from aspiring coaches. Yes, you can become an executive coach without corporate experience, although it may require additional steps and considerations. Here are some pathways you can explore: 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Consider enrolling in a professional coaching program that offers comprehensive training in coaching skills, techniques, and methodologies. Look for programs accredited by reputable coaching organizations such as the International Coach Federation (ICF). These programs typically cover fundamental coaching principles that can be applied across various contexts, including executive coaching. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: While corporate experience isn't a prerequisite for executive coaching, having a deep understanding of organizational dynamics, leadership challenges, and business acumen can be beneficial. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: Reflect on your skills, knowledge, and experiences that can be leveraged in coaching contexts. Even if you haven't worked in a corporate setting, you may have relevant skills in communication, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, or personal development that are valuable in coaching relationships. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: Connect with established executive coaches or professionals in related fields to gain insights, guidance, and mentorship. Networking opportunities, attending coaching conferences, and joining coaching communities can help you build relationships and learn from experienced practitioners. 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗲: Consider focusing on niche markets or industries where your expertise or background may be particularly relevant. For example, if you have experience in education, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors, you can specialize in coaching executives within those industries. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging research in coaching and leadership development. Engage in continuous learning through reading books, attending workshops, participating in webinars, and seeking feedback from clients and peers. 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲: As you start coaching, focus on delivering high-quality coaching services and demonstrating the value you bring to your clients. Collect testimonials, track client outcomes, and seek opportunities to showcase your expertise and results. While corporate experience can be advantageous in #executivecoaching, it's not necessarily a barrier to entry. With the right #training, #skills, and dedication, you can build a successful #career as an executive #coach and impact your clients' professional and personal development.
