Great perspective David Tarimo . I have not completed reading the document but clearly we have to improve our efficiency by optimizing our regulation and improving analysis of the key sectors supporting national growth. As you indicated, it is the commitment and continuous efforts to improve and advance from where we are as a country. Every #Tanzanian should aim to embrace a growth mindset while observing the rule of law.
In 1907 #WinstonChurchill travelled to Uganda (via Mombasa then Kisumu and across Lake Victoria) christening it “the Pearl of Africa”. I am not aware of him visiting Tanganyika - and who knows if he had, maybe this would have been the first pearl (no offence to my Uganda friends). So why reference him in connection to #Tanzania’s #National #Development #Vision (#NDV) 2050? Well, to understand why see this piece (published in The Citizen of 12 December 2024).

Today, we celebrate Jamhuri Day, a day to honor the brave men and women who fought for our independence. They stood strong, sacrificed and liberated us from colonialism. Because of them, we stand here today as a free nation. But freedom comes with responsibility. Now the baton is in our hands. It is our turn to fight, not with weapons, but with ideas, innovation and action. ✅ Fight to build stronger businesses. ✅ Fight to create more opportunities. ✅ Fight to leave a legacy for the next generation. So what is your dream for Kenya? And more importantly, what are you doing today to make it a reality? Play your part, every small action you take can help move our country forward. Let us honor our heroes by building the Kenya they envisioned. A Kenya of possibilities, unity and growth. Together we can move this country to the next level

Happy Jamhuri Day! 🎉 Today, we celebrate Kenya’s independence—a defining moment in our history that symbolizes the courage, resilience, and unity of our people. Jamhuri Day reminds us of the heroes who fought for our freedom, both in the open and behind the scenes. The Bold Leaders: They rallied the masses, demanded justice, and fearlessly stood up against oppression. The Silent Heroes: Farmers, mothers, workers, and countless others who, through quiet but impactful acts, laid the groundwork for our independence. What does independence mean to us today? Independence is more than a historic milestone; it’s an ongoing commitment to building a just, inclusive, and thriving society. It calls us to ask ourselves: Are we honoring the sacrifices of our forebearers? How are we shaping a future that reflects the ideals of freedom and equality? What can each of us do to contribute to Kenya's growth and prosperity? As Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, one of Kenya’s most celebrated authors, once said: "The power of a nation is in its culture and in the sense of purpose of its people." This Jamhuri Day, let us remember that independence is not just a chapter in our history books; it is a living story, and we are all co-authors. Who inspires you as a modern-day hero of independence? Let’s celebrate them today. 🙌 #JamhuriDay #IndependenceDay #KenyaHeroes #UnityInDiversity #KenyaForward

The image of the First Lady of Botswana, kneeling before her husband, Duma Boko, as he’s sworn into office, is a powerful testament to African cultural values—deeply rooted in respect, humility, and the strength of family bonds. As a highly respected lawyer, she holds a professional status that commands respect and authority. Yet, her gesture shows that regardless of one’s achievements, family values and cultural respect are central and timeless. This act reflects a grounded confidence nurtured by African culture, where dignity and honor are upheld in both public and private life. It serves as a reminder that respect is not a one-way gesture but a mutual exchange that fosters unity, stability, and strength within families. When leaders embody these values, they set an example, reinforcing tradition and social harmony as key to building resilient, peaceful societies. Imagine if all Africans embraced and protected these values with confidentiality and pride in our cultures, actively promoting our indigenous wisdom. I’m glad this resonates with you! Ethiopia, with its rich heritage, shares many of these values that emphasize respect, unity, and the wisdom of indigenous traditions. It’s inspiring to see how African cultures, from Ethiopia to Botswana, celebrate family bonds and cultural pride in ways that foster peace, love and Resilience. When we hold onto these values, we not only honor our ancestors but also set a strong foundation for future generations. Africa’s strength truly lies in its unity and diversity. #ProudAfrican #Ethiopia #Botswana #AfricanHeritage #UnityInDiversity
