I Don’t Finish Everything I Start Some things aren’t worth finishing. It’s not time for others to be finished. I like to start things. I’ve known it for years and the Working Genius (productivity) assessment confirmed in writing that I’m a starter. All things have to be started though. We have to start them to find that out their relevance. Right? I’ll need to think into that one more. Maybe, “all things I start had to be started to find their relevance.” For example, some books. Some books aren’t worth the time and energy to finish them, but I won’t know until I get started. Some books need to be paused. Meaning, I can wrap my head around what the author is trying to say…it’s likely too deep for me. My thinking isn’t mature enough to grasp the author’s message. I’ll put it aside and pick it back up later. Sometimes we need to take a different approach. I heard John Piper say how listening to a book could give a different perspective than reading it. I hadn’t listened to a book at that point, thought about how I’d never been able to get into C. S. Lewis’s “Mere Christianity,” subscribed to Audible and picked it as my free 1st book. Thirty minutes later, I was sure this wasn’t the same book I’d been trying to read on and off for years. I was out on a walk, turned around, get back to the house and yep, same book. Listening to it gave me a different perspective, the marbles fell into place, and I restarted, and finished, reading the book. Other times we haven’t quit, we’ve just paused. Pauses are essential (see a previous Substack). There’re some other examples of not finishing I had in mind I’ll share later. I guess my main thing is…just because you start something, you don’t have to finish it. Maybe I’m just making excuses though. Pondering this a bit more than I expected. To that end…. Way of the Warrior Kid 3 Marc shouldn't have a single complaint as he finishes seventh grade. He's done really well in his classes, his friends Kenny and Nathan have joined him at jiu-jitsu, and most important, he's been staying on the Warrior Kid path. There's just one problem and that problem is named Danny Rhinehart. It seems like every thing Marc does, Danny does better. Danny runs faster, can do more pull-ups, has jiu-jitsu moves that Marc can't solve, and is even awesome in school. On top of all that, Danny is too nice--he smiles at everything and it drives Marc CRAZY. Marc doesn't know what to do.Luckily, there is some good news: Marc's Navy SEAL Uncle Jake is back to visit for the summer. Maybe Uncle Jake can help Marc learn to handle a kid like Danny--a kid who is good at everything! But it won t be easy. Marc will have to work hard, train hard, and learn to deal with a brand new kind of problem: his own ego. It's going to be a tough summer, but where there's a will, there's a way... #BookRecommendation #GoodReads #Books #ReadingList #BookCommunity #BookLovers #Bookworm #NowReading #BookClub #Inspiration #Motivation #GrowthMindset #LifelongLearning #ThoughtProvoking #MustRead #BookOfTheDay #WeekendReads #PageTurner #TopPicks https://lnkd.in/gDtzqGUB

Your physical presence in someone else's life, especially when they're going through a difficult time, can be very powerful! In his last written words in the New Testament, Paul, knowing the end of his life on earth is near, calls for Timothy to come to him. Check out our study as we finish the book of 2 Timothy! https://lnkd.in/gXRSD8w5
