The label says #BiodiversityCredits, not #offsets. But many (institutional) biodiversity credit enthusiasts openly advocate that credits be used as offsets — e.g. "an effective and efficient source of compensation for growing corporate demand" (Environmental Policy Innovation Center) Instead of re-tooling their biodiversity-destroying business models, corporations in the rich world will be able to enjoy business-as-usual by buying "efficient" (read 'cheap') biodiversity offsets from developing/Global South countries 👇 & call it #NaturePositive biodiversity finance Other descriptors that come to mind: neoliberal/capitalist #colonialism, #greenwashing

I believe that the advances in #biotech and #bioengineering will have a significant positive impact in the beverage sector. Approaches such as using AI to speed up and get better results in yeast strain development, or techniques like scale down for scale up (to provide higher confidence in the lab before scaling up) are significant. We are doing lots of this at Cambridge Consultants - bringing the breadth of technical (and commercial) disciplines to make these visions and trends a reality, and transferring experiences from other sectors.
