Can Murtezaoğlu of GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) highlighted the growing market for LNG bunkering vessels, predicting a need for up to 10 new vessels annually for the next 15 years.
Innovative LNG Carriers with the “Mark III Flex membrane storage system ”
One of the most exciting advancements in LNG transportation is the use of carriers equipped with the Mark III Flex storage system, developed by GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz). This is a highly advanced, multi-layered membrane technology designed for storing liquefied natural gas (LNG) on board, and it significantly reduces boil-off rates during transit.
Why is this important?
During long sea voyages, LNG naturally evaporates, leading to cargo loss. The new Mark III Flex system reduces these losses to as little as 0.07% of the total cargo per day, which is significantly lower than conventional storage systems. This not only improves the environmental sustainability of LNG shipping but also enhances the economic efficiency, as less cargo is lost during transportation. https://lnkd.in/dYhCu3eD#LNGCarriers#MarkIIIFlex#GreenShipping#SustainableShipping#XDFCarriers#DualFuelEngines#LNGTransportation#MaritimeInnovation#BoilOffReduction#CleanEnergyShipping#MarineTechnology#SPG
Maritime industry is experiencing one of the biggest changes in history, doing nothing is not an option. Developing something new and innovative for the growing LCO2 shipping transportation market requires both patience and passion, and this project is a good example of “together, we can”.
Deltamarin and ECOLOG have partnered on a joint industry project for the design of a new liquid CO2 Carrier.
Deltamarin’s Senior Advisor Mauri Harki and Panos Deligiannis, Head of Shipping at ECOLOG, worked through all the details of the design to produce a versatile and efficient carrier with a shallow draft and low carbon footprint utilising LNG fueled engines, shore power and wind assisted propulsion.
As a result, the vessels will provide some of the lowest cost transportation of low-pressure CO2 in Europe.

💡 [Announcement]
GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) announces the first implementation of a 1 barg tank design pressure for a recently ordered series of twelve LNG-fuelled container vessels fitted with GTT’s Mark III Flex technology.
Having already implemented a 2 barg design pressure on smaller capacity fuel tanks already in operation, this is the first time a higher design pressure level will be implemented on larger capacity tanks (>3.000 m3), providing significant advantages for ship-owners, including:
↪️ 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: The 1 barg design pressure enhances LNG tank performance by offering very large pressure operational range, thus improving holding time and avoiding unnecessary gas burning during periods of low activity.
↪️ 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗡𝗚 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: This technology facilitates the bunkering of LNG at higher temperatures, enabling vessels to source fuel from a wider range of suppliers, including those with higher pressure, warmer LNG.
This innovation will enable LNG-powered vessels to comply with upcoming port regulations on cold ironing at the quayside, such as the FuelEU Maritime initiative.

4 different LNG's, what's the value in post FuelEU Maritime era?
The value definition of fuels in post FEM world will be different. Here is an example of different gases for DF slow otto engine: Fossil LNG, e-LNG, bLNG with WtT - 15, bLNG with WtT -90. Each of them having the same amount of energy.
The major difference is that we need to take the carbon reduction power of each fuel into account. In this graph it is calculated simply by calculating the penalty avoidance value (ab. 650 USD per tCO2e) to illustrate the situation. In the pooled compliance markets the value is likely to be lower, but I think this visualizes anyway how much the CI of the fuel has impact on the fuel value in the future.
