These are the results from my first round of 8 weeks Zen Meditation & Mindfulness courses in the community. Satisfaction with life increased as did mindfull awareness. The biggest and most dramatic change was stress. As we know stress causes over 80% of illness and leads to depression. These are just my results- the power of mindfulness is well documented, adopting with it a meditation practice compounds the effects. The group settings add to the dynamic too - my groups have formed friendships and have gone on to do other activities together. If you would like to talk to me about delivering this to your organisation for employee well being or community groups then please get in touch. I am North West based. A reminder also that this is not a course about religion or spirituality it is about using tried and tested methods to improve overall health and wellbeing. Its easy to forget where mindfulness and these wellbeing practices came from! If you would like to see me more in action i am delivering a workshop at Ewood Park on wednesday 9 October 12pm on Stress and a survival kit to overcome it. Every participant completed before and after questionnaires which are part of the Zen meditation & mindfulness 8 week course. The results were taken and averaged out for each group. I have made an infographic of the results. Satisfaction with life: 20-24 is average Perceived stress scale: Group averages: 18-29 = 14.2 30-44 = 13 45-54= 12.6 55-64= 11.9 65 plus= 12 Anymore than 6 points above average = probably experiencing a medium to high amount of stress 6 points below and you’re relatively stress free Above 12 points on noted average = experiencing significantly high levels of stress and maybe endangering your health. Mindful Attention Awareness Scale – MAAS Higher the score= higher your mindfulness Average is 3.86. As you can see the scores are quite dramatic #WorldMentalHealth #stress #depression #mindfulness #meditation #zen
