I listened to Accenture's #tomorrowtoday Podcast with Hildegard Müller (VDA) and I was really impressed by... ... the many facts and figures Ms. Müller supports her arguments with. Here's an extract. Paints a good picture of the state of the industry and VDA's positioning. _______________ 1) 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐎 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 €280 billion: Planned investments in research, innovation, digitization, and new drives over the next four years. €130 billion: Planned investments in factory transformations over the next four years. 2) 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄 & 𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐒 15 million electric cars: The German government’s target for 2030. 35 million internal combustion engine vehicles: Expected number of combustion-engine cars still on the roads in 2030, despite the electric vehicle target. 3) 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 & 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒 30% of municipalities: Do not have a public charging station. 75% of municipalities: Lack fast-charging stations. 4) 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒 & 𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 4 out of 5 vehicles: Produced by the German OEMs are exported. 70% of jobs: Depend on exports. 100 times more cars to China: Germany exports 100 times more cars to China than China exports to Germany. 280 cars per 1,000 inhabitants: Level of motorization in China, with significant growth potential. 5) 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 & 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘 Over 50 trade agreements: Remain open in the EU but are not finalized. 6) 𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 1% of medium-sized companies: Plan to increase investments in Germany (according to a VDA survey). 20% of industrial production: Is at risk due to a lack of competitiveness, according to a study. ___________________ ➡️ I did not do a fact-check.
