I listened to Accenture's #tomorrowtoday Podcast with Hildegard Müller (VDA) and I was really impressed by... ... the many facts and figures Ms. Müller supports her arguments with. Here's an extract. Paints a good picture of the state of the industry and VDA's positioning. _______________ 1) 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐎 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 €280 billion: Planned investments in research, innovation, digitization, and new drives over the next four years. €130 billion: Planned investments in factory transformations over the next four years. 2) 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄 & 𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐒 15 million electric cars: The German government’s target for 2030. 35 million internal combustion engine vehicles: Expected number of combustion-engine cars still on the roads in 2030, despite the electric vehicle target. 3) 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 & 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒 30% of municipalities: Do not have a public charging station. 75% of municipalities: Lack fast-charging stations. 4) 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒 & 𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 4 out of 5 vehicles: Produced by the German OEMs are exported. 70% of jobs: Depend on exports. 100 times more cars to China: Germany exports 100 times more cars to China than China exports to Germany. 280 cars per 1,000 inhabitants: Level of motorization in China, with significant growth potential. 5) 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 & 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘 Over 50 trade agreements: Remain open in the EU but are not finalized. 6) 𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 1% of medium-sized companies: Plan to increase investments in Germany (according to a VDA survey). 20% of industrial production: Is at risk due to a lack of competitiveness, according to a study. ___________________ ➡️ I did not do a fact-check. Podcast on (sustainability) reporting Part of my daily routine: Listening to podcasts to learn about current topics casually or often also for entertainment. Accordingly, being invited as a guest to the podcast "Paul am Puls" was a particularly enjoyable experience. Thank you, Prof. Dr. Stephan Paul, for having me. Today the podcast was published (available on various podcast platforms and https://lnkd.in/dpRA6v4s ; my apologies to non German speakers, only in German). We delved into the intricate world of sustainability reporting from Munich Re perspective. During our conversation, we explored the current landscape of sustainability reporting, acknowledging its promising intention while also recognising its current limitations. In his closing question, Prof. Dr. Stephan Paul asked me about my wish to standard-setters. Adapting quickly to a business, in which cliffhangers are common I only reveal as much as: Wouldn’t it be great to have only one single global set of rules covering financial (i.e. IFRS and local accounting), regulatory, tax and sustainability reporting? #sustainability #reporting

China's EV ambitions are setting sail for Europe, and FT's Global China Editor James Kynge is at the helm of a fascinating deep dive into this evolving yet complex landscape! Highly recommend the latest podcast from #TechTonic by Financial Times. Absolutely sobering discussions on the following big questions: - Will BYD (Build Your Dream) EVs dominate the European EV market? - Why BYD's EV cars are 40% cheaper than its European competitors? - US has announced a 100% tariff on any imported Chinese electric vehicle. If EU follows the suit, it would hurt its own carmakers, why? - EU is committed to only selling zero-emission new vehicles by 2035, how to choose between climate action vs trade protection? Look forward to more episodes!
The second in our series of podcasts "China's race to tech supremacy: Driving into Europe" has dropped. We travel to Germany in this one to look at BYD's big ambitions in Europe, selling cars at incredibly low prices. Let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/e4GED8vN
