Thrilled to share insights from a recent event where academia and sports converged to pave the way for the future. In a collaborative effort with State Sports Associations like the Bayerischer Landes-Sportverband e.V. (BLSV) or the Landessportbund Berlin and the Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund (DOSB), we dove deep into the potential of digitalization in the sports sector, spotlighting the transformative concept of #DigitalTwins. 🚀 The Power of Digital Twins in Grassroots Sports: Our discussions focused on harnessing digital twins to revolutionize grassroots sports. This innovative approach enables us to model data about individuals within sports organizations, serving as a foundational step towards developing new digital services and products. The goal? To enhance the sports experience for all, making it more accessible, engaging, and inclusive. 🌍 A Digital Shift for Sustainable Tradition: I firmly believe that for sports to maintain their essential role in society and stay true to their roots, they must embrace digital transformation. The integration of digital twins in grassroots sports is not just about technology for technology's sake. It's about leveraging digital tools to enrich the human experience, ensuring that traditional values of teamwork, respect, and community thrive in a modern landscape. 🔍 Exploring New Horizons: This initiative opens up a realm of possibilities for athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts. By understanding and implementing digital twins, we can offer personalized training programs, enhance injury prevention, and foster a closer community among participants and fans alike. 🤝 A Call to Action: As we stand at the intersection of sports and digital innovation, let's champion the cause for a digitally enhanced sports ecosystem. By doing so, we ensure that sports remain a vital part of our cultural heritage, adaptable and resilient in the face of change. "To stay analogue, sports must become more digital." Let's embrace this journey together, exploring how digital advancements can continue to enrich the essence of sports, making it more vibrant and accessible for generations to come. I'm profoundly grateful for the opportunity to have engaged in an insightful discussion on the future of digitalization in sports, hosted in Berlin last weekend. Special appreciation goes to Jörg Ammon and Thomas Härtel for their warm hospitality and for setting the stage for an insightsful discussion. Thanks to Lukas Gabriel Wiese for the organization and the foto. And a big #thankyou to Timo Mayer from my Schöller-Endowed Chair for Information Systems at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, FAU WiSo for helping me in preparing the presentation. #SportsTech #Innovation #GrassrootsSports #DigitalTransformation #AthleticExcellence

Thank you for your in-depth insight!  Digitalisation is indeed already deeply rooted in competitive sport in many nations and plays a key role in further improving athletes and making them stronger. In grassroots sport, on the other hand, organised sport makes too little use of the potential and is still too unstructured. Athlete experiences, ties to clubs and many points of contact with like-minded people and useful information can further increase the desire to #LebeDeinenSport and make it more fun. Together we can do it! An interesting exchange with you and science!
