I was SO shocked!!!😳😳😳 He said I don’t look what I want to represent I was so disappointed I was at a store picking up a few things for my mission trip to Haiti I entered an aisle and this guy said: are you a pro bodybuilder? I said what? He repeated; are you a bodybuilder? I said no I work out; but I’m not a bodybuilder. He emphasized a pro bodybuilder 😭 I laughed so hard and I asked him do I look like a bodybuilder? In my mind I was confused at first and wondered; is that what I look like? Clearly, my goals are to look lean and healthy Oftentimes I see people underrepresent who they are and what they believe As a real estate 🏡 investor do you represent who you want or claim to be? As a real estate investor you need to understand fundamentals and principles of real estate As a capital raiser you need to be able to convince LPs how the deal works You should be able to break it down in basic terms You must be able to answer basic questions including CoC, IRR, ARR How much CAPEX is needed and why? Did you follow a conservative approach during the analysis? Why your raise is higher than your loan? Whether it’s an assumable loan or not? Take some time and learn as much as needed and we can all get there but don’t show up too weak I think we need to master few concepts and program them in our minds I don’t believe anyone needs to be an underwriter but if you’re raising money for a deal you need to understand the deal and able to answer some few questions from LPs We need to represent who or what you want to be If you agree we need to fully represent who we are for people to trust or believe us drop your insights in the comments P.S. check out my selfie with the guy at the store 😀 #represent #fullydisplay #whoyouare #simplelearning
Suze Etienne, MPH, CPH, LSSMBB Real Estate Investor you need to learn to answer those questions..., that's where investors will decide if they can trust you.
We often get caught up in how we think we should look or be perceived, but what really matters is being authentic and fully understanding our craft. In real estate investing, representing yourself well means mastering the fundamentals and being prepared to answer key questions.
Investors need to trust us, building this takes time, they have to be able to see and understand that what we have will help them create a better future for them and their families. Suze 😊
Oh gosh was HE a pro body builder??
I would say that is a compliment Suze! You are right though, we need to understand all aspects of the deal. Maybe you don't need to underwrite as well as an analyst or be swinging the hammer yourself, but you do need to know these processes well enough to explain the why behind it to your LPs.
All great points Suze Etienne, MPH, CPH, LSSMBB Real Estate Investor and I love that you convinced him to take a selfie for LinkedIn 😊
So crucial to represent who we want to be day in and day out. You can become who you want to be!
Such a fun reminder that perception matters Suze Etienne, MPH, CPH, LSSMBB Real Estate Investor! In real estate, understanding the fundamentals and being able to explain them simply is key to gaining trust.
