Yorkshire Building Society is incredibly proud of its heritage, which is one of the reasons why nurturing talent in the region is so important to us. So, I was delighted to recently welcome a host of key figures and local business representatives to Yorkshire Drive, our Bradford office site, for some excellent discussions about how we can work together to help people upskill and reskill to meet the future needs of the financial and professional services sectors. I updated the group on how YBS is welcoming students from schools and colleges across Bradford for work immersion days, so young people can learn skills to help them find work, and the Building Bradford Skills Fund, launched by Yorkshire Building Society’s Charitable Foundation. YBS is donating £1m to the fund to invest in employability skills, training and services in the Bradford district over the next three years. John Heaps, our former Chair, also spoke about the ongoing work of the Yorkshire and the Humber Financial and Professional Services Skills Commission, which YBS established last year. So, my thanks to Rebecca Fitzgerald, our fantastic host for the evening, and everyone who attended – particularly Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, shirley congdon, Chancellor of the University of Bradford, Susan Hinchcliffe, leader of Bradford Council, James Mason and members of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
It was an excellent evening Susan, to learn about the skills commitments made by Yorkshire Building Society #bravo
Brilliant to see YBS looking to help with employment within our community!

4wThis is excellent to hear. As the dad of a 17 year old thinking about her options it can be a struggle to know where to go locally for her work experience. Work immersion days sound great & something I'm going to feedback to our team at LifeSearch
