This new Labour government spent the last six weeks campaigning on a platform to ‘Save Britain’s waterways from an avalanche of sewage’. Telling voters, a vote for Labour was a vote to ‘end the sewage scandal.’ It’s crystal-clear then that Keir Starmer has not only a mandate to take bold, positive action to End Sewage Pollution but there is an expectation amongst the public that he will do just that. So, our message to our new Prime Minister is simple. 📢You have the backing of the public to End Sewage Pollution. Now it’s time to deliver. 📢 If this government truly wants to be one that creates a fairer, greener Britain, they must immediately launch a public inquiry to produce tangible recommendations for how to reform the broken water sector and deliver transformational improvements for public health and the environment. #endsewagepollution #sickofsewage #sewage #saveourseas #saveourrivers #oceanactivists #riverpollution
The Labour Party now have the mandate & political power; & they CLEARLY have the backing of the public on this topic... So there is no time to waste in taking action to clean up our waterways & seas for the better of #PublicHealth & the #Environment!! They're not beholding to powerful donors, or executives in private water companies, & the public would LOVE them for taking strong, bold acitons, & showing teeth with the Water Companies polluting our waterways.
They do, but I won’t hold my breath….i think that pressure on the (new) government needs to be maintained.
The irony is, they don’t have a mandate for government as less than 3rd of citizens, eligible to vote, voted for them. They do however have a duty to sort the issue out, but then again so did the previous governments. Let’s hope without COVID, and a large majority they will meet this promise.
This is a must for the new government to make it a priority. So many are getting sick. Crazy that they can pour raw sewage in to the sea.
What can we the people do to keep the pressure on and ensure they deliver on their promise?
I think this is so important when it comes to promoting Surfing in the UK. Imagine a day when we can safely have people go to all of those beautiful beaches, wax up their boards and get out there and surf! The economic benefits to ending sewage pollution at surfing destinations should be a no brainer!
And yet, I feel depressed rather than optimistic. Politics has never felt so demoralising. But, let's see what happens!
🤞but the previous Labour government had 13 or so years to take action and instead chose to kick the issue down the road… but still 🤞 More chance the LDs with their enhanced Parliamentary presence in the SW will force positive action
Well said and yes, time to deliver... we are watching!

5moDon’t hold your breathe…..Starmer has flipped and flopped on everything from Corbyn to whether wonen can have a penis to never dealing with the Sun newspaper and much much more He’s a typical Liebour member who will say anything to get elected And now they are in power with a majority provided by a low turnout and low % vote for them……they will do what they like for the loudest voter base which unfortunately is not the white working class or Surfers Against Sewage
