Whenever you feel you’re not good enough, remember: 👇 You can be anything you want. Let me explain with a story: Two friends, Josh and Alex, decide to learn to ride a bicycle. They are very similar, but there is one main difference: Josh believes his abilities can improve through hard work, while Alex believes his abilities are fixed traits. Alex tries once and falls, so he thinks, “I’m not good enough,” and quits. Josh falls on his first, second, and third attempts, but he doesn’t give up. “I need to keep trying,” he thinks. After a month of constant falls, he finally learns to ride a bicycle. Watching him ride, Alex says, “I didn’t know you were such a great rider!” I created this story to show the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. If we believe our abilities can’t change, then when a challenge comes up, we might feel like we’re not good enough… and quit. But with a growth mindset, a challenge is just a bitter reminder that success doesn’t come easy… and we’ve got to push harder. Keep trying! Have you heard of the growth and fixed mindsets? If so, what challenges has a growth mindset helped you overcome?
