Did you know today is Cycle to Work Day? 😄 🚲 Today is a day that encourages employees across the country to swap their cars for bicycles and take part in a healthier, more sustainable way to commute. The Cycle to Work scheme was established as a way of promoting healthier journeys to work whilst also reducing air pollution. According to the Cycle to Work Alliance more than 2 million commuters working for 40,000 employers have received a bike through the scheme. So how does the Cycle to Work Scheme work? It is a government backed initiative that allows employees to acquire cycling gear in a cost-effective way. Payment for the goods is deducted from their monthly salary instead of paying any upfront cost. Tomorrow, we are stepping away from our usual day-to-day activities to participate in a company sports day. This event is about far more than fun and games; such team away days play a crucial role in our success. Teamwork Across Departments: Beyond our individual roles, these company away days encourage cross-team collaboration. By working together outside our usual projects, we are building stronger connections and enhancing communication. Better teamwork leads to better performance overall. Welcoming New Faces: Over the past 12 months we have had a number of new employees join us. This sports day provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get better acquainted, strengthening our bonds. Celebrating Hard Work: This day allows us to acknowledge our collective efforts. Dedicated to all the Office Sportsmen in good humor........A break away from break. In the office, we toil with grace, Yet it feels like an Olympic race. Deadlines loom like hurdles tall, We sprint and leap, hoping not to fall. The email chain, a relay’s fight, Passing tasks from day to night. We juggle meetings, like gymnasts twirl, Balancing deadlines in a dizzying whirl. Our workload’s weight, like a lifter’s bar, We strain and push, reaching for that star. Promotion leaps, the high jump’s test, Where effort meets ambition’s quest. Marathons of meetings, endless and long, We endure, like runners, steady and strong. And Friday’s close, the ceremony sweet, Where victory’s found in the weekend’s retreat. So here’s to the office, our daily race, Where we chase success with steady pace. Together, you’ll tackle a series of exciting and enlightening challenges that will not only foster greater teamwork but also provide a glimpse into the lives of people with blindness or low vision, and the importance of accessibility and inclusion. Some tasks include using text-to-voice technology to access instructions without vision and identifying objects only by touch. While these tasks do not truly replicate the experience of living with blindness or low vision, it is a unique way to build trust, learn about collaboration and gain valuable insights into some of the skills and strategies our Clients use to overcome daily challenges.   Part of the proceeds from each ‘Unleashed. Race to support Guide Dogs’ event go towards the vital work we do to support people with blindness or low vision. At the start of October, one of our team members, James Fulwell, completed the 2024 Chester Marathon—an incredible achievement! His remarkable endurance demonstrates that his hard work and dedication go beyond the exceptional service he provides to our clients. #Lessons learned from running Chester marathon - Juggling personal with work life   "A big thank you to everyone who came along to support . A few lessons I took away": #Supportnetworks: Joining training runs organised by the event were a great way to assess my progress and get advice from other runners. The same applies at work, you never know when your network may be able to help you, or you them. #Goals: A training schedule and the right diet helped, I could have been more disciplined in my approach. A trip to the cricket a week before the race was maybe not the best idea. Put in place similar career goals to help you prioritise what matters to you. #TimeManagement: In the last month before the race, the wheels came off training. Scheduling time for personal activities should be guarded as fiercely as time for client meetings. #MentalResilience: A marathon and demanding roles require resilience. Stay focused on your long-term goals. For me it was to finish the race, which I did.   #Actions: Place as much importance on personal activities and read a book recommended to me called “Deep Work” by Cal Newport to help with time management. From the Expo, where runners pick up their kits and see their names displayed on the wall, to the parade, fun runs, and countless opportunities to meet Olympians and running icons, it’s an experience that unites both participants and supporters in something larger than themselves. Obstacle challenge and Cup stack This was a new activity I introduced with this bunch of excited participants of Global Healthcare Billing Partners and it turned out to be so much fun. The participants were given a specific brief on the activity and the learnings derived after the activity were phenomenal. Balance and Coordination: Participants must carefully balance the cup on their head while navigating the hula hoop which they associated with work life balance, hindrances/obstacles at work or personal life. Focus and Concentration: Keeping the cup steady requires significant focus and concentration, teaching participants to stay calm and composed under pressure. Patience and Perseverance: If the cup falls, starting over can be frustrating. This teaches patience and the importance of perseverance in the face of setbacks. Teamwork and Communication: Success depends on both members of the team — ones balancing and navigating and the ones stacking the cups. Effective communication and cooperation were crucial. Strategy and Problem-Solving: Participants had to devise strategies to balance the cup and navigate the hula hoop efficiently, fostering creative problem-solving and strategic thinking. Resilience and Adaptability: Handling the unexpected like breaking of the hula hoop, and quickly adapting to do their best in that situation encourages resilience and quick thinking. Trust and Support: Relying on teammates for success builds trust and emphasizes the importance of supporting each other in collaborative tasks. How to enhance collaboration and have fun? In October, our team hit the lanes for a fantastic evening of bowling. It was more than just a game - it was a chance to unwind, connect, and strengthen our bonds outside the work. Why bowling with colleagues is great: 🙌 Team Building: Bowling fosters teamwork and friendship. Cheering each other on and celebrating strikes (and even the occasional failures) brings us closer together. 😊 Stress Relief: Stepping away from work and engaging in a fun activity helps reduce stress and recharge our minds. 📢 Communication: Informal settings like this encourage open communication and can lead to creative ideas and solutions. 🏆 Healthy Competition: A little friendly competition can boost morale and motivation, making us more productive when we return to work.
