PROGRAM 1COMMUNITY 1RECYCLING (1C1R) 🌿 22 June 2024 - the dynamic team at Pemuda GEMA KL joined forces for the PROGRAM 1COMMUNITY 1RECYCLING (1C1R) at PPA Sri Perlis 2. This initiative aimed to boost recycling habits, promote mental wellness, and ensure a cleaner environment for everyone. ♻️ Recycling: Together, we tackled waste by embracing recycling practices. Every recycled item helps reduce pollution and protect our planet for future generations. 🧠 Mental Health: A highlight of the program was a talk on mental health, offering valuable insights and tips on maintaining mental well-being in daily life. Outdoor activities and community interactions also played a key role in reducing stress and boosting positive moods. 🧹 Environmental Cleanliness: The event was spiced up with a plogging competition, where participants ran while picking up litter. This fun activity not only cleaned our surroundings but also fostered teamwork and community spirit. We are incredibly grateful to PPA Sri Perlis for inviting us to be part of this amazing program! This Memorial Day, many of us will be enjoying barbecues, picnics, and outdoor activities. With all the fun and festivities, it’s easy to generate a lot of waste. But we can do our part to keep our environment clean by focusing on recycling. Here are a few tips to make your Memorial Day celebration more sustainable: 1. Recycle Bottles and Cans: If you're enjoying cold beverages, make sure to recycle the bottles and cans. Set up a clearly marked recycling bin so your guests know where to dispose of them. 2. Use Reusable Items: Opt for reusable plates, cups, and cutlery instead of disposable ones. This not only reduces waste but also adds a touch of elegance to your gathering. 3.Compost Food Waste: If you have leftover food scraps, consider composting them. It’s a great way to reduce waste and create nutrient-rich soil for your garden. 4. Avoid Single-Use Plastics: Skip the plastic straws, utensils, and tablecloths. Look for biodegradable or reusable alternatives that are better for the environment. 5. Educate and Encourage: Use this opportunity to talk to your friends and family about the importance of recycling and reducing waste. Lead by example and show them how easy it can be. 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗣 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! An estimated 20 billion K-Cup pods are used each year – That’s enough waste to circle the earth almost 12 times! To combat this issue, GREP hosted a K-Cup Challenge, encouraging staff to properly recycle used K-Cups. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗞-𝗖𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟯 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀: Allow K-Cup to cool – Starting at the puncture, peel and dispose of the lid. Compost or discard the K-Cup pod contents. Any filters can remain. Discard the empty K-Cup pods in your recycling bin. Using this method, the GREP team recycled an impressive 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗞-𝗖𝘂𝗽𝘀 in April.
