How BJP rose to serve the people of Odisha In 2017, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) emerged as the main opposition in the State, taking over from the Congress after the 2017 panchayat elections. Having been a significant political force from 2000 to 2008 while allied with the BJD in the State government, it took only a decade for BJP to establish itself independently. BJPs increasing influence was highlighted in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, where BJP secured 8 out of the 21 seats, a notable increase from the single seat won in 2014. This growth is attributed to the Narendra Modi wave and the electorate's distinct voting patterns for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Indian Elections Update: In the recent elections, BJP faced setbacks by losing 61 seats across different regions: - 30 seats in UP due to disunity and wrong candidate selection - 13 seats in Maharashtra due to BJP's disruption of other parties - 10 seats in Rajasthan due to disunity and underestimation of the opposition - 8 seats in Karnataka, reflecting a state election trend. The losses highlight the impact of internal actions on outcomes, rather than solely external competition. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah predicts that the NDA may not get an outright majority in the LS elections. ✍ Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's assertion that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) may not achieve an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha (LS) polls is a forecast about the NDA's electoral performance in the 2019 Indian general elections. This suggests that Siddaramaiah believes the NDA, a coalition of political parties led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will not win more than half of the total Lok Sabha seats.
