The Rural Urban Distribution Initiative (RUDI) provides a platform for selling spices, cereals, pulses, and other Agro commodities. By creating direct market linkages, RUDI ensures fair prices for farmers and easy access for consumers. Our sister-led value chain eliminates middlemen, guaranteeing top-quality, nutritious products. This fully sister-operated structure not only ensures product excellence but also empowers our sisters through skill development and income generation, promoting self-sufficiency and community impact. This week we have a valuable and impactful story of our Rudiben from Jasdan, Gujarat Hear it from our RUDI ben: In the heart of Jasdan's rural community, a group of resilient women embarked on a journey to create economic opportunities and empower themselves through a groundnut oil business, supported by Nirantar SEWA. Initiated in 2023, this project saw women forming clusters under the collective name Nari Shakti, leveraging their combined knowledge and resources to cultivate groundnuts. With the establishment of a modern oil mill and training on best practices, they produced high-quality oil, strategically marketed it, and shared their inspiring journey with customers. Their success not only generated steady income and financial independence but also fostered social empowerment, leadership, and community development. This case study highlights the transformative power of collective action and entrepreneurship, inspiring others to build resilient, sustainable enterprises in rural settings. #nirantarsewa #steadfast #RUDI #community #collaboration #sewa #sisterhoodandsolidarity #socialenterprises #support #collectiveeffort

🌾 Chana Production Across Key Indian States: A Comparative Insight 🌾 As we step into 2024, chickpea (chana) production continues to play a crucial role in India's agricultural landscape. Here's a quick breakdown of the major producers and their contributions to the country's total output: 🔹 Madhya Pradesh: The undisputed leader, contributing around 40% of India's chana production. Known for its vast farmlands and favorable climate, MP remains at the forefront of pulse cultivation. 🔹 Maharashtra: A major player, producing approximately 15% of the nation’s chana. Despite recent weather challenges, farmers here continue to deliver quality output. 🔹 Rajasthan: With 10-12% of the total production, Rajasthan's arid lands have adapted well to chana cultivation, consistently yielding high-quality pulses. These three states together form the backbone of India's chickpea supply, ensuring the country meets both domestic demand and export goals. 💡 As demand for plant-based protein rises globally, how can we further optimize chana production across these regions? #Agriculture #Chickpeas #Chana #MadhyaPradesh #Maharashtra #Rajasthan #India #Farming #Sustainability #PulseProduction #FoodSecurity

#Urvarasa farmers Ramhari & Laxman Kadam have created a niche for themselves in the natural toor dal market. However, this year the incessant rains have damaged the toor seeds and damped their aspirations. Not that they made big profits from the toor sales but #Urvarasa does ensure fair compensation for the hard work of the farmer. As per #Urvarasa values, we encourage the farmer to adopt mixed cropping practices that have undeniably proven to be resilient to the effects of climate change as well as ensure that the farmer is not left with a total crop loss, unlike farmers who practice the conventional mono-cropping practices. To know more, do check out, the latest video from Urvarasa’s pilot project, Vishwajeet Farm, Gopalpur, Pandharpur.
