I got an "Appeal feeling" on the bus to Norrtälje in Sweden, about our time and historical possibilities. —- Dear friends, In a time of rapid change, we are now facing one of the most central challenges in our society: to both rebuild and renew freedom, community and responsibility. The Nordic personality principle offers us a way forward – a path based on mutual trust, cooperation and a deep respect for each other. In this context, it is inspiring to remind ourselves of an element of the Nordic principle, Immanuel Kant's categorical imperative, which reminds us that every human being has an inherent value and should never treat himself or others merely as a means. We all have a duty to act with humanity and to recognize each other's rights and dignity. It is precisely this perspective that gives us the strength to resist authoritarian and totalitarian regimes that threaten our freedom and our fundamental human rights. We live in a world where we often forget how our actions affect others. It's easy to feel lonely and isolated, but we have the power to change this. By engaging with our communities and taking responsibility for our neighbors, we can create a culture of humanity and support. Let's rediscover together the value of truly and authentically caring for each other. Every small act of kindness, every moment we invest in our neighbors and our community, builds a stronger and more cohesive world. It is in these moments that we shape our identity and show that we are more than just individuals – we are part of something bigger. By standing up for the value and rights of the individual, we can counteract the forces that want to silence us and deny us our humanity. We must be brave enough to speak out, to protect those who are subjected to oppression and to fight for a society where no one is left behind. I invite you all to reflect on how you can contribute to the common good. Every step you take towards increased awareness and responsibility for others is a step towards a more harmonious and sustainable future. Together, we can recreate and renew the Nordic spirit of solidarity and equality, where everyone has a place and where every vote counts. Reflecting on the CSD in Göttingen  Last Saturday, despite the rainy weather, more than 2,500 people gathered in Göttingen to celebrate Christopher Street Day and march for their rights under the banner: "We are here, forever queer." While the numbers may not match those of Berlin, Hamburg, or Munich, it’s important to recognize the significance of these demonstrations in smaller cities. Göttingen and many other cities show that diversity is celebrated and fought for not just in major metropolitan areas but everywhere, which is vital because it is often in smaller cities or villages where people are most afraid to face discrimination by being their true selves. The recent attack on 1,000 CSD participants in Bautzen by nearly 700 right-wing counter-demonstrators is a sad reminder of this reality. Although Göttingen remained peaceful, this discrimination is not just an East German problem—Braunschweig's celebration of CSD saw homophobic attacks and a wave of hate comments online. As a company, we typically take a neutral stance on political issues and respect everyone's right to their beliefs and way of life. However, these events highlight why we must take a clear stance, especially in light of the upcoming elections in September, because it affects the rights and freedoms of every individual.   But it's not just a political issue; it's about being human. At isi, we have adopted this as one of our core beliefs: "We put people first". This means that we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind and are committed to creating a work environment where everyone is not only accepted, but wholeheartedly embraced in their diversity. As we contemplate our political climate of war, environmental concerns, identity, including gender identity, and the multiple layers of marginalization that perpetuate fear, uncertainty, and a sense of loss, we must remember that there is one thing we can control from our individual lens. Staying the course. As a political scientist, we are taught to read the rooms of history and interrogate shifts in trends; as a scholar, activist, and author, I understand walking the tightrope of our social contract, and as a #Blackwoman, my personhood and the Black bodies of those that look like me, is constantly threatened. In all these spaces, we must continue to tell our story, push beyond fear to hope, and be the bearers and witnesses to history the way those who survived the over 200 years of enslavement so we could live did.
