Now this is a first that I have heard. This has a potential to benefit patients big time, but also has the potential to be abused by the insurance department of the hospital. Why I say that is there will be no external accountability. From the hospital standpoint they will be creating captive customers…which is good for them, great channel to build brand loyalty, one of the main points we highlight of embedding insurance into an offering. Hoping for a humane outcome and a new wave of insurance products.
Kudos to Dr Devi Shetty for coming up with this Insurance Scheme Now this can be a game changer - integrating the value chain - hospital, customer and insurance company Rs 1 crore coverage for surgeries and Rs 5 lacs for treatment costs, for a family of four - for an insurance premium of Rs 10,000/- Goes without saying that settlements will also be smoother and without hidden surprises Of course, this gets restricted to only NH chain of hospitals But imagine, if the likes of Manipal, Apollo, Fortis, Max chain of hospitals, also start offering it #insurance #financialplanning

5moValid point! Such an insurance system has the potential to be abused and also the insured patients enrolled in only 1 hospital chain might get stuck in case of rejections or improper care. Nevertheless, I believe this system will mature even more and proper regulations will come in place to avoid misuse!
