"Football is a vehicle for them to show [racism] but it is not just an issue in football, it is an issue in society. "Until we start to challenge it, it will exist in all walks of society." John Barnes quote These young men not only face racism while they play the game, they face racism everyday outside of the game. #football #antiracism

White privilege is being put forward for penalties and worrying about missing and letting the country down. Being black is being put forward for penalties with the complete understanding that if you miss, you will be the subject of extreme racism and discrimination. What a great game! I was at the edge of my seat for the whole time, but when it came to penalties, I remember praying to God that they don't choose any Black players! When I saw that Marcus Rashford missed, my heart sunk, I couldn't concentrate because all I could think of was what was coming the next day! When three Black players missed, I knew the raft of racism that we will all wake up to this morning. If there was ever a time to be anti-racist!! IT'S TODAY. The comments are vile, sickening, saddening and disturbing! Racists are ordinary people working with us, sharing transport with us, going to school with our children, teaching our children, running our country and on a typical day, they are willing to tolerate us! Now is the time to enforce your zero tolerance on racism policy, for you to call out inappropriate comments in your closed circle, to reply to a racist comment on social media. Just as we have all come together to enjoy the Euro 2020 tournament, let's come together to stamp out the racism against our amazing young black England players! Together we are stronger! #antiracist #racisminfootball #england #antiracist #euro #media #mentalhealth

Today is a great day! The glass ceiling has shattered. First female, First South Asian, First Black American VP. As a woman who has been told "no" and to "stay in my lane" countless times - this day is one that brings a lot of HOPE for the future. Little girls will see Vice President, Kamala Harris and know they, too, are capable of achieving their dreams. #kamalaharris #biden #women #hope #future #inspiration Rhianna Padman

Powerful photo. Kamala’s hard-earned place as the first South Asian, Black and female Vice President, is a beacon of hope. My favourite Kamala quote “What I want young women and girls to know is: You are powerful and your voice matters. You're going to walk into many rooms in your life and career where you may be the only one who looks like you or who has had the experiences you've had. But you remember that when you are in those rooms, you are not alone. We are all in that room with you applauding you on. Cheering your voice. And just so proud of you. So you use that voice and be strong.” We now have Kamala as an inspirational role model for the children of today and tomorrow to look up to, don’t let anyone tell you, you are not good enough. Super proud as a South Indian, role models matter. #kamalaharris #women #inspiration Rhianna Padman

#MYNameIs Subha, if you can say sugar you can say Subha. How relatable is this for people of colour, growing up with mispronunciation. Your name is your identity. Our names matter. My go to explanation is say sugar and replace the g with a b. Ask me how you pronounce it, you may get it wrong and that’s ok, just don’t avoid saying my name. Don’t tell me it’s spelt wrong. It’s disrespectful. If you can say Tchaikovsky you can say my name.

#MyNameIs Adeşola shortened to Şola which I prefer to spell as Shola because the 'ş' is the 'sh' sound. I love my name✊🏾. In Yoruba it means 'crowned with wealth' or 'this crown makes wealth' as my father explained to me. Our names matter - Say. My. Name.

My journey as Santander UK Lead mentor, for Business in the Community mentoring circle comes to an end. I’ve enjoyed the past 9 months mentoring this group of highly talented individuals. The journey began f2f to adapting to the new norm of virtual zoom meetings.
