🏸 Lakshya Sen's badminton journey has been filled with promise, but he's repeatedly seen matches slip away just when he's on the verge of victory. 🏅 At the Paris Olympics we all witnessed Lakshya on the cusp of winning, yet both silver and bronze slipped from his grasp as he struggled to close out crucial moments. 🆕 More recently, at the Denmark Open, leading 21-12, 16-11 against Lu Guang Zu, Sen once again found himself close to winning—but in a familiar pattern, his confidence wavered, his shot selection faltered, and the match slipped away. 💪 While his fitness and talent are undeniable, this pattern of falling short at the final hurdle raises questions about Sen’s confidence under pressure. 🧠 Adding to that, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar believes Lakshya has all the qualities of a champion but suggests that mental training could be the missing piece after his near-miss at the Olympics. 🏆 Let’s take Iga Świątek’s example: At 17, she brought sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz into her team to help her stay mentally sharp and manage the pressures of tennis. The results? Świątek won her first Grand Slam at 19 (2020 French Open) and now holds five Grand slam titles (singles), ranking as World No. 2. She credits her first title to Abramowicz, stating she helped boost her confidence. ✨ In hindsight, Lakshya's decision to take a mental and physical break in April 2023 allowed him to return stronger than ever, clinching Canada Open Super 500 and advancing to US Open semi-finals. It seems that this break truly worked wonders! ❓ What do you think is the best way for Lakshya to break free from this pattern? Should he explore Świątek’s path or consider Gavaskar’s suggestion? #LakshyaSen #ParisOlympics #DenmarkOpen #Badminton #SportsPsychology #Medal #India #IndianBadminton #BadmintonNews #SportsUpdates #BigHit

🏅 Big shoutout to Lee Zii Jia, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik for bringing home the bronze in badminton at the Paris 2024 Olympics! 🇲🇾 Your hard work and determination are truly inspiring! . Have you ever noticed that bronze medalists often seem happier than those who win silver? This is an exciting fact backed by research. . You'd think winning silver would excite someone more, but our minds don't always work that way. This is because of something called 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜. . The athlete who won the silver medal likely thinks, "I came so close to winning gold," while the bronze medalist probably thinks, "I'm thankful to have received a medal!" It might feel like a missed chance for the silver medalist, but it's a big win for the bronze winner. . This kind of thinking happens in life, too. We sometimes focus on what we don't have instead of appreciating what we do. But staying positive and motivated is more effortless when we start counting our blessings. . Life's all about how we see things. So, let's focus on the good stuff, stay grateful, and keep pushing forward—just like Lee, Aaron and Soh! 💪 . #Leadership #GrowthMindset #Olympics2024 #Badminton #Gratitude

🌟 Exciting Project Announcement 🌟 I'm thrilled to share my latest project: "Cash, Court, and Champions: The Olympic Badminton Connection." This exploration delves into how economic factors such as GDP per capita and population size influence the success of badminton athletes on the Olympic stage. 🏸✨ Badminton, introduced to the Olympics in 1992, has evolved into a sport that not only demands exceptional skill and strategy but also reflects broader economic and cultural influences. By examining the interplay between financial investment, national support, and athletic performance, this project aims to uncover insights into how these factors contribute to success at the highest level of competition. This is so sad.At so many levels. Our Olympians are sharing apologies. Why? For not having put up a good show. I work with several young players to help them become mentally stronger. It is inspiring to see how much effort they're willing to exert in training sessions. While their non sporting peers are drowning themselves in screens or other unproductive activities, these young people are trying to achieve goals. Working hard everyday to improve fitness, strength, stamina, flexibility, technical skills... their sweat and tears are not visible to those who don't watch them training. #Prannoy or Ashwini or Lakshya or Sindhu ....didn't play to lose. They're warriors.Resilient and tough.Coming back on court battling injuries...poor health...so many diverse challenges. #Why do they keep returning to play? Because they're sportspersons. Passion for the game drives them. They're driven by hope, optimism and pursue excellence . They love to win but understand that losing is not equal to failure...it's just a part of the game. Courage is what it takes to come back after a loss...How many of us have it? Prannoy HS Lakshya Sen PV Sindhu And all Indian Olympians. Congratulations on making it to the world's greatest sporting event. Congratulations for trying your best. Congratulations for representing India. Congratulations for making us proud. Ashwini Ponnappa What are you apologising for and why? Did you choose to lose? Was there a deliberate attempt on your part to let victory slip away? Did you intentionally miss returning the shuttle? Did you let go without trying? Those who love Badminton and have watched all of you play...admire and appreciate the effort. Of course there are lessons to learn...and that's where the focus should be. You're warriors. Hold your head high. Just keep getting better and better everyday in everyway. Rise every time you fall...Walk tall. You made us proud. Thankyou for the relentless effort. #Olympians #Ashwini Ponnappa https://lnkd.in/dj-HKcrY

Hey Everyone, Apologies for not having put up a good show. Really wish I could’ve played good badminton, but sometimes when you want something really bad the opposite tends to happen. It hasn’t been easy accepting it, but it is what it is. I’m super grateful to Tanisha Crasto for giving me a chance to fight together for a spot at the #Olympics when the odds were pretty much stacked up against us. It’s been a crazy journey, but glad we stuck it out together. Thanks a ton to all my family, friends, coaches (badminton and non badminton) physios and well wishers for giving me the strength to keep my head high and keep fighting when things seemed really hard. And finally, thank you to all of you here who follow me (despite my lack of posting stuff) and have been positive through out my tumultuous badminton journey so far. I am truly grateful for your support and appreciate all the #positivity you send my way. It keeps me going. Thank you 🙏🏻 #TeamIndia🇮🇳 #Paris2024

Vietnam’s Medal Drought Continues: A Performance Review https://ift.tt/vAGT6ZB Vietnam’s medal hopes at the Paris Olympics were dashed on Wednesday night as weightlifter Trinh Van Vinh could not deliver a winning performance in the men’s 61kg category. With Vinh’s failure, the Vietnamese athletic contingent’s dreams of securing a medal at this year’s Olympics were all but extinguished, except for canoeist Nguyen Thi Huong, who will compete on Thursday afternoon (Vietnam time). However, experts predict that Huong’s chances of winning are slim to none. The majority of the Vietnamese delegation has already returned home, with only a few athletes left to compete in Paris. Vietnamese shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh celebrates his gold medal win at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Photo: H.D. / Tuoi Tre A History of Vietnam’s Olympic Journey Vietnam first participated in the Olympic Games in 1952 and has since been a regular contender at the Summer Olympics, marking its presence at 17 iterations of the prestigious event. The country’s inaugural Olympic medal came in the form of a silver medal, won by taekwondo fighter Tran Hieu Ngan in the women’s 57kg category at the Sydney 2000 Games. This was a historic moment for Vietnamese sports. Eight years later, at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, weightlifter Hoang Anh Tuan added another silver medal to Vietnam’s tally in the men’s 56kg weightlifting category. His total lift of 292kg was just shy of the gold medalist’s lift by 2kg. Hoang Anh Tuan, Vietnamese weightlifter, competes in the men’s 56kg weightlifting category at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. File photo. Vietnam’s medal count continued to grow at the London 2012 Olympics, where weightlifter Tran Le Quoc Toan secured a bronze medal in the men’s 56kg category. The Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016 marked a historic moment for Vietnam as marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh clinched one gold and one silver medal, becoming the most decorated Vietnamese athlete in Olympic history. To date, Vietnam has accumulated five Olympic medals across 17 Summer Olympic appearances, with four athletes contributing to this tally. However, this number has stagnated over the last eight years, with no additional medals won at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (held in 2021 due to COVID-19) or the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics. Vietnamese markswoman Trinh Thu Vinh. Photo: Reuters A Decline in Sporting Performance Vietnam’s sporting performance has not only been lackluster in recent years, but it has also shown a gradual decline in competitiveness. From the Atlanta 1996 Olympics to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Games, Vietnam consistently increased its number of participating athletes. However, this number has decreased in recent iterations, with 18 athletes in Tokyo 2020 and only 16 in Paris 2024. Additionally, marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, a previous medal hopeful, could not replicate his past success in Tokyo 2020, failing to advance past the qualifying round.
