This weekend is a great time to consider that the easiest ways to address college affordability is make PC/MM CLO Mezz available in state run 529 plans!* This is a great piece on a growing and wonderful asset class. My one quibble would be that there is a meaningful difference between the classic “middle market CLO” with sub **$50m average borrower EBITDA and newer “private credit CLOs” with meaningfully larger borrowers that are more analogous to BSL names. There is a logically sound argument the latter should trade tighter to BSL CLOs than the former. *the best thing would be to make colleges securitize loans made to their students and retain the equity in the administrations retirement accounts, ideally coupled with BK code changes to make it easier to discharge student loans **may be off a smidge on numbers but alas I couldn’t get a good deal on rating agency or sell side structure credit research subscriptions on Prime Day

A Rs. 250 Cr MCAP company is raising Rs. 400 Cr in NCDs Standard Capital Market Ltd is an NBFC that provides personal loans, gold loans, business loans, and other financial services. This company was dormant with NIL topline and bottom line until FY22. But things started to change in Dec 2022 when a new promoter, Ram Gopal Jindal, acquired the company. 🧑💼 In a short span of 2 years, the company has managed to reach an AUM of Rs. 400 Cr. 🚀 Now, they are raising an additional 400 Cr in debt to fuel future growth. Lending money is easy, but the real challenge lies in recovering it. This is where things get tricky. With limited information available about the new promoters, assessing the quality of the loan book becomes a guessing game. But if new management manages to prove their mettle, things can get interesting.

Azzurro has completed the purchase of a two-year forward-flow of newly delinquent non-performing SME loans, backed by Personal Guarantees. This transaction represents the first of its kind in the UK for the SME non-performing loan asset type. Azzurro and the seller worked together to put measures in place that ensure flow asset quality is maintained over the course of the flow.
