Do you see this fella? Yeah well he is a former exec from Google and Stripe and he has just raised a $56M to build what they’re calling an "AI Agent Operating System." The startup, /dev/agents, has already hit a $500M valuation. "We’re building the platform that will help make AI agents mainstream." They do more than simply answer questions and summarise documents like chatbots but also integrate tool-using capabilities so that they can operate autonomously using human-like reasoning to make decisions. For example, they can send emails, write and send tweets, prepare and send reports based on events and more." Agents can catch errors in computer code fix them without intervention and flag the changes for human review. They also can work behind the scenes to adjust compute or storage resources so to avoid crashes or overloads by predicting spikes or overages based on historical data. This stuff is moving faster than any of us could even imagine! Learn and embrace it!!

AI start-ups now demonstrate their strength. They generate revenue 🚀 faster than previously hyped tech companies, as Stripe’s analysis of payment data shows. The Financial Times article says that AI start-ups reach $1 million in annualized revenue in less than 1 year. The non-AI tech groups need much more time for the same rates. I’m talking about 11 months for AI startups compared with 15 months for the previous generation of SaaS. While AI start-ups are reaching millions in sales within a year, their non-AI counterparts are 🐢 lagging. Sound promising for AI start-ups? Absolutely. But there are still major 🤔 hurdles. Despite rapid growth, infrastructure costs are enormous. One topic which has come up again and again in Build Club is how AI startups should go about pricing. It's different to traditional B2B SaaS contracts as AI is constantly evolving. Here are some of my key learnings and insights I've seen in the area in the last months: 1. 🙋🏻♀️ 'AI as employees' pricing concept - leading companies are using ROI and task based pricing in a similar structure to an employee who would have a wage + bonus. It's the 'rise of the AI workforce' but for real. Neople is a great example of this who have 'salaries' for their AI employees in their pricing model. 2. Usage based pricing - for devtool companies and those further down the tech stack, having strategic tiering offering different levels of service is key to managing profitability e.g., OpenAI and Midjourney. The most common gates for tiering are: - early access to features [this one is very valuable for engineers] - more friendly volume based pricing - enhanced customer support + templates 3. Margins are still low at the application layer but will improve - cost of compute will decrease as foundational models improve however this will take time. 💸 We have seen startups are putting hard caps on 'freemium offers' and must stay well capitalized. AI isn’t just software; it’s an evolving service that demands a fresh approach to pricing. 💡 What are your thoughts on pricing strategies for AI products? 🤖 Implementing Google's Gemini Artificial Intelligence API Hey everyone! 👋 I'm keen to share a sneak peak on my recent developments of my Task Management app that implements AI to generate task descriptions. When I first integrated the API, it made me wonder about the endless possibilities on how to use AI to solve unique ideas or automate processes. But I felt stuck since no creative ideas came to mine. However, I recently had a good chat with Brian Gi who was able to sell his own AI app. He gave the amazing idea of looking at startups on Crunchbase that use AI to see what simple products already have high funding. From here we can modify the idea to appeal to the same market that we know for sure wants this style of product... Then maybe slap on a sneaky Stripe integration if you're feeling lucky. As an internet products builder with 12 years of experience, here's how I feel about the current state of the industry: 1. 85% of new apps/startups nowadays focus on AI. 2. I tend not to look at or try these new AI startups because, although the demos are cool, they can't be reliably used for real-world tasks It feels like an Ad blindness effect. I used to be so excited to check out new apps on @ProductHunt but not anymore 3. It is extremely easy to build high-level AI SaaS products using existing APIs and boilerplates. 4. Competing at the core level is extremely difficult because your competitors are companies with billions in funding, ready to invest absurd money in any promising idea. 5. Due to the extremely high competition and the ease of building, it is harder to innovate and be creative. If your app gets any success, it will quickly be copied by indie builders and later picked up by larger companies. Eventually, you may become burned out and depressed.
