While there was some welcome news in yesterdays #budget2024 with extra funding promised for the #NHS, the increase in #employer NI contributions may curtail salary growth. I believe this will continue to make #employeebenefits more valuable to #organisations and their staff. Employee benefits packages are one of the most effective ways that employers can deliver financial support to their workforce and support with talent attraction and retention. It's important we continue to review our #totalreward strategies to ensure we are making the most of the benefits and support on offer. #humanresources #financialwellbeing #wellbeing
Following the government’s Autumn budget yesterday, our CEO Paul Schreier said: “The government has committed to deliver urgent change for healthcare across the country, but today’s budget leaves many questions unanswered. Parts of the health system including the health and protection sectors as well as the role of employers continue to be overlooked and their potential left unrealised.” Read Paul’s full response here: https://lnkd.in/eNYzdDrp

Among the requests made by NHS Confederation CEO Matthew Taylor for the new government are no major restructure, more capital funding, and a focus on long-term workforce planning. Taylor stresses the importance of a proactive healthcare model that is preventive and collaborative. Notably, 40% of the NHS budget is allocated to treating preventable diseases, highlighting the urgency for a shift. The current reactive health approach tends to perpetuate inequalities by responding to demand rather than need, neglecting key determinants like housing and employment. It's highlighted that every pound invested in primary care translates to £14 in the local economy, underscoring the broader economic impact of healthcare spending. The NHS Ap, now with 34 million registered users, holds the potential to drive change in personal healthcare attitudes towards a more holistic, preventative, and empowering approach. This underscores the necessity for a new social contract with the public on engaging with healthcare. #NHSConfedExpo

Access to quality, decent healthcare should not depend on one’s ability to pay. The current situation does not serve the poor, does not serve the middle-class and does not serve the country. https://shorturl.at/LtqnG

Officer, Program Implementation | I help rural Ugandan communities access safe water and reduce malnutrition by implementing innovative WASH solutions and maternal & child health programs.
What truly makes a public health program effective and sustainable? Beyond infrastructure and funding... 1. It's important to create an environment where people trust the system and value the services provided. 2. Engage communities and healthcare workers to maintain program success even in times of uncertainty. 3.Design health programs that can easily adapt to changes in political and financial landscapes. As we begin the week, it is important to focus on creating public health programs that go beyond the immediate, programs that instill confidence and offer lasting impact. #MaternalHealth #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityTrust #HealthcareInnovation
