Larian Studios Baldur's Gate 3 becomes the first game to win GOTY at Golden Joysticks, The Game Awards, DICE, GDC, and most recently BAFTA. Why this matters: The BAFTAs often diverge from the consensus Game of the Year chosen by other award shows. For instance: - 2022: BAFTAs selected Vampire Survivors, while Elden Ring was the general consensus. - 2021: BAFTAs picked Returnal, contrary to the prevailing choice of It Takes Two. - 2020: BAFTAs favored Hades over The Last of Us Part II, aligning with DICE and GDC awards. - 2019: BAFTAs awarded Outer Wilds, despite a competitive field (Sekiro at Game Awards, Untitled Goose Game at GDC and DICE, RE2 Remake at Golden Joystick). - 2017: BAFTAs honored What Remains of Edith Finch, while Breath of the Wild was the general favorite. So, it's understandable why a game hasn't swept awards until now. This recognition was well-deserved for BG3, in my opinion. It quickly landed in my top 10 favorites of all time. Can’t wait to play what Larian cooks up next.

Vampire Survivors is releasing new DLC again. This time, it's coming on Halloween, October 31, and is an "Ode to Castlevania," featuring more than 40 new weapons, 20 new characters, 30 music tracks and one huge castle - Dracula's to be exact. This collab between poncle, the Vampire Survivors dev and Konami, who owns the Castlevania IP is an outstanding example of how you can create a collaboration among like-minded IP in a way that excites both existing fans of the game and the IP. Often times, it can be difficult for players of a gaming IP to accept when it's used in a different video game genre. But by tying it as a DLC to an existing game, it allows Castlevania fans to respect the crossover while appealing to the existing game's fanbase as a new experience with loads of content. I'd expect this DLC to perform very well. #gamepublishing #gamemarketing #gamedevelopment
