KEEP IT CLEAN!! We are often in many different dialogues, but we do see the same issues over and over again. Systems are polluting other systems with special datamodels and flow-dependencies, which is often solved by lots and lots of custom code! And oh yes, your company have it too… So let’s agree on a simple principle: Keep systems clean... If you need two systems to work together towards a digital experiences or just a datamodel that can be used in many different circumstances – THEN create an abstraction layer! The abstraction layer on top will then asynchronously build the unified datamodel, that you can use to whatever. Furthermore, this Abstraction layer minimize flow-dependencies and customization within a system. Finally this gives other benefits such as easier maintenance, faster path to upgrade and better performance. The key question is then: Build or Buy? do you build your abstraction layer from scratch yourself in Microsoft Azure, AWS or your own cloud – or do you buy a product, that have been looking into making the abstraction layer tech agnostic, flexibile, high performant and with asyncrounous processing for optimal decoupling and usability. When we talk data and AI at scale, the infrastructure is a huge issue to handle. What I mean by infrastructure is the cloud components necessary to support the use-case to serve the customer. Of course, the cloud infra could be managed by cloud provider tools, but if your company is international with a lot of teams and systems, it could be a nightmare. Here comes IaC : Infrastructure as Code. Basically, it allows to manage the cloud infra with code.
