Avocados are a highly complex fruit that require special handling to ensure their safe arrival at their final destination. For example, did you know you must maintain 90% to 95% ripening room humidity to reduce dehydration during avocados' ripening cycles and help with their external appearance? Our new ripening rooms will allow avocados to receive the proper treatment they require, such as fresh air exchange, the right level of humidity, proper temperature management and more. Another day, another #fruit #quality observation! Yesterday I had an amazing mangonada. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is kind of a #mango slurpy — pure deliciousness! While waiting for my drink, I saw some #avocados on display (the ones I'm adding to this post). From mere observation, you can see a lack of color stabilization. External color in avocados is the clearest evidence of the #ripening stage. With such colors, one can also assume that overall #quality is deteriorating. I spoke with who runs the store and she very kindly shared with me that avocados in the Northern part of the United States are typically the ones I was seeing. This talks about the need for #Mexican #fruits and #vegetables — not only avocados — to use #preservation #technology to ensure #quality and homogeneity along the whole #value #chain in every part of the World. #Differentiation and #prizes are the name of the game.
