Johnson & Johnson is a prime example of a company embracing digital transformation 💻! They launched a digital surgery platform called Verb Surgical, collaborating with Google's parent company, Alphabet. The platform uses robotics and machine learning to assist surgeons in the operating room 👨⚕️👩⚕️. In another stride towards digital, J&J also introduced a contact lens that adapts to light conditions, a product of their digital technology and vision care division. This innovation has improved the comfort levels of 94% of patients who tried it! 😎👁️ Lastly, their digital transformation led to an app for clinical studies, improving efficiency and reducing costs. This app has accelerated patient recruitment by 60% and reduced data errors by 95%! 📲📉 Digital transformation isn't just about technology; it's about improving lives, and Johnson & Johnson is leading the way! 🚀 #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #HealthTech #Johnson&Johnson"

Throwback ♻ : Earlier this year I published this article on why it is SOOO hard to commercialise a surgical robot. It still holds true today. https://lnkd.in/e69Dctnn For those that didn't get to the bottom of the blog - I'm pulling this one out as it is a core piece of understanding as to why Intuitive remains leader today with little challenge - and why admiration must be given to all of the chasing companies. It doesn't matter if you are a big strategic or small start up (up start 😎 ) this is a hard path to climb. So all companies need help and support to get up this peak. But it might help explain why the chasing pack is so far behind... #surgicalrobotics #roboticsurgery

AI learns surgery by watching videos! Johns Hopkins University researchers have successfully trained surgical robots by showing them videos of human surgeons. This has huge implications...for you. Why? Because training AI to perform a task has been an enormously complex and time consuming hurdle, meaning few organizations have the resources to do it and the returns have to be massive to justify the effort. We are quickly moving to a world where an AI can simply observe a physical (or digital) process and then perform the same steps. This drastically lowers the bar of effort to implement! I just hope a Tesla doesn't watch me drive. 🤣 #ai #futureofwork

I've been asked by so many people to do this post 💥 - so I've put this one on my Free section of my blog: (for the cheapskates 🤣 ) https://lnkd.in/d2zm8bU4 (some of you still haven't bough a subscription to the other stuff... really? 😂 ) People from all backgrounds #surgeons #employees #investors #researchers #marketreserach teams and people from #MandA #businessdevelopment have asked for this one. Sorry for the delay - but here it is. I've had people from #intuitive Intuitive #medtronic Medtronic Medtronic Robotic-Assisted Surgery Medicaroid #medicaroid Stryker #stryker Johnson & Johnson MedTech #johnsonandjohnson ask me directly or indirectly "How do you know if that #roboticsurgery company is healthy or not?" So - no real science - but here's my algorithm I use to put a wet finger in the air and judge the health of a #surgicalrobotics company.
What does a healthy surgical robotics company look like - and what does a struggling one look like?

The promise of surgical robotics is undeniable—enhanced precision, consistency, and potential for improved outcomes. But, despite this, barriers to adoption still exist. Why? Surgeons want proof that robots will truly enhance clinical outcomes. There's skepticism around whether robotics can significantly improve procedures they believe they already perform well. This behavioral hesitation stems from a need for tangible evidence that the technology is better without challenging their expertise. Does a workflow disruption exist? Time is everything in surgery. Setting up, breaking down, and resetting robotic systems can disrupt the flow of procedures, making them less attractive to environments where efficiency is critical. Implementing robotics requires significant training and changes to established workflows. This investment in time and resources can be a barrier for institutions with tight budgets or overworked staff. In overcoming these hurdles, companies need to focus on proving the value of their technology in clinical settings, minimising workflow disruptions, and offering robust support for training and integration. What other barriers do you see to adoption? Check out the latest episode of The Surgibots Podcast with Sabeen Shaikh of LSC - LifeSciences Consultants. "Want to build a competetive robot? Build for the ASC" #surgicalrobotics #medtech #clinicaloutcomes

Using Robotics in: **Healthcare** - **Surgical Precision**: Robotic surgery allows for minimally invasive procedures with enhanced precision, reducing recovery time and improving patient outcomes. - **Automation of Routine Tasks**: Robots can assist with repetitive tasks like medication dispensing, patient monitoring, and sanitation, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on more complex care. - **Rehabilitation**: Robotic devices can aid in physical therapy, helping patients recover mobility with personalized, consistent support. Disinfection in hospitals and other industres is very important to kill all type of microorganism by using sprayer robot using Hydrogen peroxide with Ag, and UVC robot away from humenbing, and free hand saving money and protect staff from hazerds and apply MOH protocol of disinfection # 17.9.

Just bumped into a great classic piece on #surgicalrobotics by Stuart Perry and Duncan Freake. They write that the industry's heavy emphasis on "surgical technology and its instrument ecosystem is understandable. But that prioritization, and the consequential neglect of user experience, leaves to chance other factors that can greatly influence market success, efficacy, and safety. We can’t help but conclude that safer, more effective systems can be developed by addressing the entire ecosystem in which a robotic surgery system resides. This will also surely affect market penetration. To give surgical robotics companies a broader mindset, we’ve developed a series of three questions. Ask them, and you will begin to think beyond the robot." For all those who dare to think beyond the robot, here's a post: #userexeperience #marketsuccess #safety #education https://lnkd.in/edu7_tcq

Cutting Into the Future: How AI is Taking Surgery to the Next Level 🤖✂️ I stumbled on this when sipping coffee this Saturday morning so wanted to share. What if your next surgeon didn’t just learn from the best—but watched them in action? That’s exactly what happened when a robotic system trained itself to perform surgery by observing human surgeons at work. Using hundreds of surgical videos, this AI-powered marvel can now handle intricate tasks like suturing and tissue manipulation, matching the precision of human surgeons. This breakthrough from Johns Hopkins and Stanford is more than just sci-fi come to life—it’s a glimpse into how AI might revolutionize medicine. Imagine a world where robots perform life-saving surgeries in underserved areas, working autonomously with skills honed by the best surgeons in the world. The future of medicine might just be one algorithm away. Check out the incredible footage here: https://lnkd.in/g-DTXEjD
