Food for thought... Got it, the relationship between profit and care quality in healthcare is complex and multifaceted. You'd think it's essential to balance financial sustainability with ethical considerations and the fundamental goal of healthcare: to provide care that is patient-centered, accessible, and of the highest quality possible.

Update: 12/8 UnitedHealth’s market cap has now fallen nearly $60bn since the assassination of CEO Brian Thompson, and public perception of this company has never been lower. When corporate leaders think of the cost of an executive protection program, they must weigh it against the cost of not protecting their most valuable assets (people) and how the loss of key leaders might effect their business. ______________________________ For my colleagues in senior leadership roles in protective services and executive protection. Working with corporate leadership or a board of directors to determine the appropriate level of budget for an EP program has always been a challenge. Comparables are difficult. Companies rarely (never) share comprehensive data in their IPOs, 10k's or S1's. Often, you'll have buy-in from the executive and all the resources you need or, you'll have to fight for every dollar with partners who don't really understand the need for your program. It appears UnitedHealth posted internal EP Director and EP Agent roles on LinkedIn in July and later pulled them down after a budget related hiring freeze. Since the killing of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson yesterday morning, UnitedHealth's market cap has fallen more than $21 billion dollars. -JW

The other day, I talked to a mentor who commented on what he thinks sets me apart and why I need to look and focus on it. We talked about our experiences, what he enjoyed about his career, past and current, and what places I enjoyed the most. Then he dove into why I left those places, what he likes about me, and why he has used me for some projects. I have been drawn toward challenging places, which he feels is because of my competitive background. From the start at Publisher's, Cenveo, TricorBraun, Black Line, and B+W what drew me to today drew me to Centene and helped sell it that is no longer in the picture. The common thing I was attracted to was being involved and pushed to advance. Once one of those was gone, the pattern changed, and a move happened at all places except one when I was laid off. I love to be pushed and push myself every day. Feeling part of a company and being more than just doing a job, but helping give information and be part of something has been vast and impactful. Some people are ok with just doing a job and handing it off. I have often been involved in some way, shape, or form, and as a result, I have seen when that is the case of the company's mentality, they perform above others.  Having them point it out as something I have looked at and said in the past as well was reassuring. Understanding where you succeed and why you succeed and want to stay and help push a company farther is important. If it does not meet your expectations or the type of atmosphere you need, it's a shame, but knowing and understanding that is key for a happy employee, whatever their drivers.  #understand #expectations #lookingfor #career #driven #openforwork #jobsearch

Today, July 29th marks my 2nd anniversary at Next Impact. 🎉 Like Thomas Edison, I feel like I've failed yet again. 😞 My boss, Lester J. Morales, entrusted me to help him develop new marketing programs for the Transparent Health Benefits (THB) category in the insurance industry he created. 🏥💡 This industry aims to help employers provide high-quality care at a lower cost by self-funding their 2nd largest expense, health benefits, by offering up to $0 deductibles for medical procedures and prescription drugs. 💊💰 Despite the industry's success in saving employers millions of dollars and helping families with out-of-pocket expenses, there is a limited understanding of how marketing can contribute to its growth. 📈 🤷♀️ This is the opportunity. ✅ As a marketer, marketing is an investment in growth and expansion, not just an expense.💪 It is especially true now when marketing plays a direct revenue role with #MarketingOperations and #RevenueOperations. Marketers need to be trusted to do their job and be supported. That's it. Nothing new has ever brought immediate revenue in the beginning. If this were the case, major brands such as The Coca-Cola Company wouldn't invest millions in launching new products and remove them from the market because they didn't succeed. Losing is also part of winning; planning for losing is important when building something new.
