This was an interesting read and I think they hit the nail on the head with this statement summing up what I feel about ai. Would a casual reader notice the difference? "It’s sort of like comparing a woodworking artisan’s table to one from IKEA. The artisans invest immense time and effort into their high-quality pieces, while IKEA produces things quickly and cheaply, and most people probably can’t tell the difference (or don’t care). Which is kind of sad for us artisans. With AI, we can expect a rise in superficially appealing but low-quality content. But that doesn’t mean there’s no place for craftsmanship. We still find meaning in the bespoke, at doing all the little things right, and in creating things that feel like they have a real person at the other end of it. And we can only hope that others do too." #ai #creativewriting Read about the experiment below. https://lnkd.in/eAfv79mV

"It’s like comparing a woodworking artisan’s table to one from IKEA." Artificial intelligence will produce superficially appealing but low-quality content, writes The Pudding on its website. However, the audience might not immediately notice the difference between an AI-generated story and the work of journalism. According to the team of The Pudding, there is still a place for craftsmanship: "We find meaning in the bespoke, in doing the little things right and creating things that feel like they have a real person at the other end of it. And we can only hope that others do too". Will they use AI for upcoming stories? "We see ourselves more as editors of the small tasks we outsource to AI. We know what the output should look like, and how to adjust things as needed." https://lnkd.in/gb7NzFzK

A cool read, IMO! Reposting because I love this article on The Pudding that confirms my thoughts about AI (when put to the test) that AI isn't something to fear. AI is not infallible; it can be a "co-pilot" to help push creative boundaries and process vast amounts of data, making decisions faster. But as powerful of a tool that it is for designers, human touch and creativity are essential...and you better know how to spot the errors! An excellent review and commentary of a real use case of LLM/"AI". "Do we feel replaceable? In short, not right now. When we look at what Claude produced, we don’t think it looks anything like a real story we’d make at The Pudding. But… would a casual reader notice the difference? We hope so, but that might be overly optimistic." https://lnkd.in/eKcqF6FK #LLM #GenerativeAI #AI #review #commentary

🌟 **Can AI Craft a Compelling Data-Driven Story? An Experiment with Claude!** 🤖📊 In the age of AI, where large language models are taking center stage, The Pudding decided to put AI to the test: Can it create a data-driven, visual story like they do? They teamed up with #Claude from Anthropic, to find out! Here’s a glimpse into their journey: 1. The Experiment: The team broke down their storytelling process into four steps and guided Claude through each one. Their aim was to see if AI could replicate the creativity and expertise that characterize their stories. 2. The Process: They started with idea generation, where Claude pitched stories on topics like female characters in video games and the environmental impact of fast fashion. While the ideas were promising, they lacked the depth and intrigue the team was looking for. 3. Data Collection: Once an idea was greenlit, they moved to data collection. Claude wrote Python scripts to scrape song lyrics for sentiment analysis, showcasing its ability to handle technical tasks swiftly. 4. The Verdict: While Claude impressed the team with its speed and technical prowess, the storytelling aspect fell a bit flat. The ideas were more like topics, lacking the specific entry points that make stories engaging. This experiment highlights the potential of AI in data storytelling but also underscores the irreplaceable value of human creativity and insight. As AI continues to evolve, the collaboration between human expertise and AI capabilities could lead to even more innovative storytelling! #AI #DataStorytelling #Innovation #ThePudding #CreativeAI #AnthropicClaude https://lnkd.in/e5AY5V_e

Can AI truly replace musicians? Let's be honest here. Undoubtedly, AI has orchestrated astonishing musical pieces that has captivated audiences, not only me, and exploded much like a delightful surprise. Yet, as a data scientist trying to get deeper into this matter, I've observed a missing link. The catchy tunes, perfect for commercials and malls, lack the intricate complexity and abstract exploration inherent in human creation. We, musicians when composing, embark on a journey of uncertainty, where music flows and evolves organically. There is no attachment to previous rules if we don't want. AI, on the contrary, navigates with a predetermined plan, lacking the ability to diverge, adapt or create something truly unique. The conflict then arises at the crossroads of creativity and precision. So, what's the deal? In my perspective, AI serves as a powerful ally, enhancing musician's efficiency in bringing their thoughts to life. However, a question still remains: What will happen when neural chips eliminate physical barriers, connecting musicians directly to computers to generate music compositional structures? Will it finally liberate the power of creativity or will this confine it further within the bounds of predictability? This, by no means, is a conclusion, but a simple reflection. As fellow musicians and data enthusiasts, I invite you to share your insights on this post. The AI symphony is still evolving and changing our perspectives, shaping the future for a maybe harmonious collaboration between human ingenuity and artificial intelligence. What's your take on this intersection of science and art? Let the conversation and the music resonate out into the space. 🎵🤖 #AImusic #DataScienceReflections

TEARS FOR FEARS DEFEND AI-GENERATED ALBUM COVER The recent controversy surrounding Tears For Fears’ AI-generated album cover for their latest release, _Songs For A Nervous Planet_, has sparked a vibrant conversation around the role of technology in art. In this discussion, we will explore the band's rationale, the fan backlash, and the implications of using AI in creative realms. ADDRESSING FAN BACKLASH The criticism directed at the band has raised questions about the authenticity and emotional depth of AI-generated artwork. Many fans are unhappy with the departure from traditional artistic processes, labeling the choice as __tone deaf__ and __soulless__. The band, however, asserts that AI was only one tool among many used to create a dynamic mixed-media collage that embodies the themes of _escape_ and _alienation_. ARTISTIC VISION In their defense, Tears For Fears emphasize their intention to blend familiar imagery with futuristic elements to express emotional narratives. Vitalie Burcovschi, the collaborating artist known as __@surrealistly__, shared his experience of merging surrealism with the band's visionary concepts, marking the collaboration as an enriching journey. THE FUTURE OF AI IN ART As discussions unfold, it becomes clear that the integration of AI into music and art is more than a trend; it represents a potential evolution of creative processes. The growing acceptance or critique of such tools will certainly shape the future of artistic expression holistically. In conclusion, while the backlash has raised valid concerns, it also opens a dialogue about the evolving landscape of creativity and technology. How do you feel about the use of AI in artistic endeavors? #AIinArt #MusicIndustry #TearsForFears

I can't stop thinking about the huge network of artists who do custom work for companies to make a living so they can continue thriving as artists--and how nervous they must be about their future in a world where AI can make increasingly passable fakes. The tech is only going to get better, meaning the AI-generated art will too. But humans are the real SOURCE of art. Without the human context, art loses its relevance, its soul, its purpose. Without artists, we lose art. And that is a world I do not want to live in. I wrote some more on this, today. #ai #art #generativeai #attribution https://lnkd.in/gs2GbdXb
