✨ 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 ✨ This week is National Careers Week! Which is all about career guidance, giving advice and supporting young people who are currently making exciting decisions about their future. Although I give honest and transparent advice in my day-to-day role, I wanted to chat about the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and not standing still in your career. I recently read an article: 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁: 𝗗𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 and thought it linked perfectly to another post I'd seen on my timeline - Fixed VS Growth Mindset. We're all guilty of doing things that make us feel comfortable, safe i.e things we know we're good at. But how can we progress in our career if stay complacent? Why should you challenge yourself? 📚 Enables you to learn new things 👯 Gives you the chance of meeting new people 🧠 We can learn from mistakes in the process 📈 It provokes growth in new ways 👏 It pushes you to advance your skills What can you do this week that pushes you out of your comfort zone? #careersweek #hiring #mindset #advice

This week is #nationalcareersweek ……… It’s not often that we find the time to stop and to reflect on our careers so far, so take a moment this week 🤔 💭 Has your career path gone ‘as planned’, or have you taken steps along the way that you didn’t think you would? 💭 Who are the important people in your career journey so far? The ones that have given you great advice, had your back when you needed them to and stuck with you? 💭 What is the best career advice you’ve received……and the worst? 💭 As a young person, what help and support were you given to start you on your career? 💭 If you know a young person in education or starting their journey into the world of work, maybe have a chat with them and share the resources on the National Careers Week website? https://lnkd.in/euc6eJaE

🏆It's that time again - and what a great week it's been!🏆 It's been one of those weeks that has kept a smile on my face. I've genuinely loved a lot about it. Some may say "you don't often get to say that" when it comes to work, but why not?! There's plenty to be grateful for! We just have to take the time to reflect back and appreciate things 😊 And here's my #reflections from this week: 🌟 I found myself in a situation that normally would have made me catastrophize, as I love having control over things as much as possible; but I managed to deal with it, look at my options and be adaptable. It might be something small, in my case it really was and it was a problem with an easy fix! And in the end the outcome was a successful one. Not falling immediately into the loop of thinking about failure is actually personal growth for me...and I'm proud of myself for it 🌱 🌟 I spent Tuesday answering lots of fantastic questions around my career, #quantitysurveying, #commercialmanagement and the #infrastructuresector ! It was really great having Y13s all the way down to Y7s asking about my career journey, #stemcareers and potential #workexperience opportunities within Croftstone . It was also a lovely trip down memory lane too at Mayfield Grammar School. Careers Fairs are so important in inspiring the next generation. I hadn't even thought of pursuing a career in #QuantitySurveying until I had left Y13, as I'd never heard about jobs in #construction and #thebuiltenvironment. Here's to hoping that my interactions with these students have helped to inspire them into pursuing a #stemcareer 📚 🌟 I've received some great #feedback from colleagues this week. I can't stress enough the importance of giving regular feedback, whether it's a simple "you're doing a great job, keep it up" or a constructive "here's what I think you might need to develop to perform better". If you want to support a colleague with their career development, offer them that feedback! In the long run, you are supporting them in their progression which they'll really appreciate; I know I do! Also remember that no feedback should be seen as bad feedback. A different perspective can help you have a breakthrough light bulb moment that can fundamentally improve the way you work💡 🌟And lastly....we even had a lovely spell of sunshine this week on the first day of spring equinox🌻 What a difference a short walk in the sunshine can make to your mood and productivity! Make sure you take that break from your screens to give your eyes and mind a rest before making a start on the next task on your to-do list☀️ So #LinkedIn connections, what has been your #weekofwins you're celebrating? Let's hear about them below 👇 #weekofwins #BuildingCroftstone #stem #careersfair #construction #builtenvironment #mycareerjourney #inspiringleaders #feedbackmatters #womeninrail #womeninconstruction #personalgrowth #QuantitySurveying #CommercialManagement #Infrastructure

Another Incredible Week at Purdue!! ✨ I'm so grateful that, so early into the semester, Purdue University has already set us up for success with an amazing experience at the Industrial Roundtable. Shout out to Purdue Engineering Student Council for managing the IR so well! Attending a career fair was a brand-new experience for me, and while the idea of talking about yourself all day seemed daunting at first, it turned out to be an incredibly rewarding process. Navigating long lines (sometimes waiting for an hour or two!) and running from one booth to another to connect with as many people as possible was all part of the hustle—and worth every moment. This experience taught me so much—whether it’s mastering the art of being concise in those quick 5-10 minute conversations, staying sharp for on-the-spot STAR format questions, or clearly defining your goals and why you’re interested in specific roles and companies. It was challenging, exhilarating, and full of invaluable lessons. Beyond finding job opportunities, the career fair was more about making genuine connections. I learned a lot from industry professionals, heard first hand about their journeys, met Purdue alumni, and gained insights into the companies' long-term goals. I’m excited to continue nurturing these connections and applying what I’ve learned as I continue my journey at Purdue! 🚀 #BoilerUp #PurdueUniversity #CareerFair #Networking #IndustrialRoundtable #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerOpportunities
