In the last 6 years, I have been inspired by many change leaders - for their vision, their passion and their hard work. Having co-travelled with some of them, I have also been privy to the chasms they face in this journey and how much effort it takes to cross them. As enablers in the ecosystem, how do we create some rope ladders, some bridges or even a cheering squad, to make it easier for them to cross these chasms? Give a read and tell me what you think. #exponentialchangetogether
Knowledge. Reimagination. Design-action. Conviction. Coordination. Mobilisation. Self-efficacy. As a change leader, do you notice what's common with these words? All these reflect a chasm in a change leader's journey to impact@scale. But what do they mean? Read about these chasms in our latest #blog, authored by Priya Mantri Ajmera here: https://bit.ly/chsmlnkd #socialimpact #socialchange #chasms

Conversation Corner with Gene Holloway, Ph.D.! I'm excited to share insights from my conversation with Gene Holloway, Ph.D., a dynamic Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Gene's leadership, deeply rooted in DEI principles, continually empowers individuals and transforms organizations. Here is what he had to say.. 1) Leaving a legacy: Gene's rich background in counseling, I-O psychology, and DEI fuels his mission to give back by meaningfully impacting others. 2) Reflection: If given the chance, Gene would have committed to working on weaknesses earlier and pursued consulting earlier in his career. 3) Empowered: Gene defines Empowered as, "Having the perseverance to achieve goals and learning along the way." I've had the pleasure of being connected with Gene for some time now, and I felt compelled to Speak with.. then compelled to Act. His vibrance, enthusiasm, and dedication to empowerment are truly inspiring. I look forward to seeing the incredible work Gene continues to do in Consulting and DEI spaces! #ConversationCorner #Leadership #DEI #Consulting #Empowered

Universal truth is rare... Verisimilitude creates an arena in which truths exist I first learned of the concept verisimilitude whilst studying nutrition science, a discipline rife with different versions of the truth. It was a very useful way to move away from a binary position of true or false. It helped me see that we are all circling around a version of the truth. Verisimilitude became a favourite word more personally. I first learned it during in a 'vocabulary expanding' phase with my daughters. There are happy memories of eating dinner and sharing examples of new words we had learned that day. It brought a little warmth to my heart when I was reading The Perfect Story by Karen Eber and saw it twice on one page! This feels an important idea in #Leadership and the ability to drive #change. Verisimilitude can be defined as: The likelihood that story events may actually happen (Van Laer, et al., 2014). Creating vision “imaginary solutions for real contradictions.” Connecting indivduals to coherent truth or personal truth Frequently my youngest daughter used verisimilitude to connect us to a coherent truth, that she almost conviced us Charles Dickens was the first person to use the term YOLO! We are operating in world of uncertainty, often the 'truth' is unclear or things change and new truths emerge. #Apprentices on leadership programmes, have outcomes including: "Establishing the value of ideas and change intiatives and driving continuous improvement" Verisimilitude is an important concept to tell stories to cultivate belief in possibility, to shift from imaginary solutions to impactful change and action. #Storytelling

Wow a strategy masterclass from the guru Gary Hamel! Sharing some of the many insights: 💡 Life is too short to work on inconsequential problems 🌍 The world is still run on bureaucracy 💡 We need extraordinary leaders and organisations that are daring, resilient, creative and inspiring 💪 We are suffering from ambition deficit disorder 💡 Innovation is born between the gap of aspirations and resources 🙏 We are the authors of all this change, humans are not against change 💡Innovation is the only insurance against irrelevance today 💚 Innovation is the fuel for renewal 💡Bureaucracy eats culture 🏑 The game doesn’t change until we walk off the playing field 💡Failure is the price of learning Action tips - 1) Aim higher 2) Debureaucratise 3) Listen to your team 4) Hack the system A great case study shared was Buurtzorg Australia embracing humanity over bureaucracy and Roche Pharma from the world of multinationals. Gary finished sharing an inspiring message, we need leaders who build community, lead with compassion, are contrarians and who are enormous multipliers of personal impact! Elbrie de Kock and I had the great pleasure to say G’Day to Gary and get a signed copy of his ‘Humanocracy’ Book! ❤️ #WOBI #Abundium #leadership #strategy

"When one door closes, another one opens" The proverb means that when one opportunity or path in life ends or is approaching a 🍴 fork in the road, there are often new opportunities or paths🛣️ that become available. It encourages resilience and optimism, suggesting that setbacks can lead to fresh beginnings. (This proverb has its origins in the 17th century and has been used in different forms... a widely recognized expression symbolizing a positive outlook and perseverance - despite challenges.) Where do you think this picture 🖼️is from? An exotic, late-summer visit to a small town near the Mediterranean🌊? Attracting the last really soul-warming rays of sun in Southern Europe, like Sardignia, Malta or Cyprus…? Not quite right. Afternoon walk in a small town close to the capital of Hungary, where the old, rumbling houses of former vineyard owners, farmers, or experts in viticulture and winegrowing 🍇remind us of former times. Grapes the colour of a thousand rainbows 🌈, narrow, tiny "streets", earthen paths on the hills behind the rocky area carrying the names of famous types of wine🍷 - the past in a country once famous for its agriculture and produce, now looking ahead towards a dreary future of batteries and waste😣. I'm hoping the doors to a brighter future will open (again) soon, that sunrays☀ will rule, that smiles return to the faces, and the dark, blank stares of myopic eyes and ignorance turn back to sparkles, curiosity and happier prospects. Esperanza!!! And leadership? Organizational Culture? On a more business-side, our aspirations are similar - hoping that following these darker hours a more optimistic😊 period comes. So leaders out there … open those doors🚪and windows🪟 wide, show your vitality, energy🔋 and charisma, inspire and make it happen!

The second skill The Social Care Network proposes is necessary for leaders in business wanting to do the work of transformational change, pursuing a sustainable and equitable world in 2024, is 'systemic thinking'. Consider this: 🐝 Bees use flowers for a source of food, and the flowers depend on the inter-flower traffic that the bees provide to spread their pollen and ensure healthy genetic diversity within the flower community. 🌻 These two species are interconnected and cannot be understood in isolation. 🌼 If the bees become damaged, the flowers suffer, and vice versa. Systems thinking understands that you cannot understand anything in isolation. Just like you cannot understand the bee without understanding its relationship to the flower, you cannot understand any element of life (strengths or areas for development and change) without understand its relationship to other parts of the system. Leaders: ❓ Are you considering the interconnectedness between individuals and all the systems that surround them? ❓ Are you addressing the right drivers in your work to achieve change, to not only see the dial move significantly enough in good timescales but, with confidence you can sustain and progress the changes you have begun to make? ❓ Do you understand that damage to one part of our collective system affects us all, for we are all interconnected? The Social Care Network has a history of applying the socio-ecological model and other systemic ideas to assess, analyse, and facilitate transformational change. To learn more about systemic thinking, press the alarm, turn on notifications or send a direct message to arrange a call to see how The Social Care Network can help your organisation to develop this skill, and others, to grow with confidence when working together for a better future for all. #systemicthinking #ecosystemicthinking #socioecologicalapproach #systems #worldview #shiftingsystems #systemicdrivers #systemicchange #leadership #business #sustainability #purposeledbusiness #purpose #innovation #change

The popularity of taking psychedelic micro doses to boost creativity and productivity at work, or visiting high-end retreats to improve your leadership skills is on the rise. But should employees be pressured to take drugs at a team-bonding retreat? Is constant all-out pressure to boost the bottom line perhaps something to reevaluate? #creativityatwork #psychedelics #successatwork #mentalhealth #psychedelicintegration #kiracallahan https://lnkd.in/g7BBsrn4
So it's OK to do drugs at work now?
