Stefan Korn’s Post

Really chuffed about another incredible conversation I was fortunate to have with one of NZ's iconic entrepreneurs and business people - Rod Drury! "To be successful and have an impact, you actually have to have success. I see a lot of people get carried away with philanthropy and doing those things early before they've been successful." Just one of the many gold nuggets and insights form the conversation with Rod. While Rod hasn't been in the mainstream media much or making headline news with Xero, he's not been idle. During the conversation Rod shared a really compelling, "BIHAG" (big hairy audacious goal) and his vision for NZ. Great to see this level of boldness and leadership from a guy who knows a thing or two about creating globally successful brands that create immense value for customers and bring back substantial benefits to NZ. Excited to see what Rod does next to make his vision a reality and how we can all be part of it! #innovation #startups #entrepreneurship #vision #nz

Thanks Stefan Korn - although I don't agree with the statement "I see a lot of people get carried away with philanthropy and doing those things early before they've been successful." It's never too early to be philanthropic. In my opinion, if we live comfortably we should be sharing our wealth - and doing so in proportion to what we have.

Supporting Kate Frykberg's comments, in my experience there is a lot to be gained from making some philanthropic contributions - however modest - through our entire journey Stefan. My own thinking has evolved materially as a result of following this strategy; an evolution that could only have come about through active participation that focuses one's thinking and provides more grist for the learning mill. Keeping it all in proportion to our capacity and our bandwidth should be a given. And a big 'Plus One' for thinking deeply about potential approaches to enhancing our collective wellbeing! 👍

If this country wants to grow our export markets then attracting manufacturing and industry here to make goods with renewable energy is a no brainer. Sweden took an end to end approach from R&D to scale and have attracted $180billion in new manufacturing infrastructure in cleantech. It works but we need a vision and mission

Great share Stefan - certainly gets the brain into gear. Would love to see more discourse on creating a shared vision for NZ
