It doesn’t matter how great you are at what you do if nobody knows about it. This is why visibility is your responsibility. If you don’t put yourself out there, someone else will. Like your competitors and peers. Most of us work in saturated markets. The difference between being good and great is often the time you make to market yourself so you are top of mind to clients and referrals. Take ownership of your visibility to get ahead in your field. There are so many marketing tactics you can utilize to be more visible. Do things that you like to do that have real ROI and put you in front of the right people such as: Go to conferences. Speak at conferences. Write articles. Create a blog. Post on LinkedIn. Invest in public relations. Start a video series or podcast. Appear as a guest on podcasts. Get involved with a trade association. Strategically network. Think of marketing as one of the best investments you can make in yourself. What are you going to do to be more visible in front of the people who can hire you, refer work to you and open doors for you? Visibility truly is a responsibility, and it’s often the difference-maker in crowded markets. One tactic I’ve seen amplify visibility in powerful ways is visual storytelling—using intentional imagery to reinforce expertise, build trust, and stay top of mind. How do you see visuals fitting into the strategies you mentioned?
Such a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility in today's competitive landscape. 👏
Stefanie Marrone YES! You are your own brand, whether you work at a firm or own your own business. No one will care about your career as much as you do, and it takes intentionality to manage your professional brand. But, as you said, it's not as onerous of a task as you might think. Being visible, especially on LinkedIn, simply takes consistency and a little bit of effort.
Thank you for your advices
I do almost all of those things, Stefanie Marrone, but away from videos. I’m just too self-conscious.
Stefanie Marrone thank you for this harsh, but oh so necessary reminder to do the tedious, but often rewarding task of connecting.
Interesting
Visibility is so important, Stefanie, and I feel you have to create it from multiple angles. That's what makes your list so helpful—thank you 🙏
Stefanie Marrone putting yourself out there is key.

3wExcellent reminder, I tell my teams, we are not on a global stage, at least most of us are not. We're not world renowned entertainers, celebrities, sports stars, etc. In most cases many of us may be rock stars in our own right at the jobs we do, however if we're not visible nobody is ever going to know. Take action, immerse yourself in the process of becoming visible and see how life can change.
