Why I still believe in physical brainstorms? Elke Geraerts recently talked about 'Smombies'—smartphone zombies— and the lack of depth and real connection these days. I couldn’t agree more, and that’s why I’m a big fan of gathering around the same table for a good old-fashioned brainstorming session. To me they still are: 👥 More personal- Nothing beats the connection of face-to-face interaction—it adds a layer of authenticity that virtual calls just can’t replicate. ⏱️ More efficient- Conversations flow faster, and there’s less room for miscommunication. 🎉 More fun- Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something energizing about bouncing ideas around in person. It’s less formal, more dynamic, and just... better.

Starting next week with a focus on brainstorming. I'm breaking down how to nail the prep and spark brilliant ideas within your team. We'll touch on essential strategies: framing clear, powerful questions, setting up the stage, and driving the conversation for maximum impact. Been prepping all week, and now I have it all in place: a strategy, a vaguely planned calendar and a bunch of deep dives I need to cut into bite-sized pieces. They are painted with big, bold strokes, leaving room for flexibility and creativity. We'll figure the rest out as we go 😊 Bursting. With. Anticipation.

Do you want to create better ideas in your team? Here's how … Ever wonder why your brainstorming sessions feel stale? Most teams don't use the advantage of diverse perspectives. Do the same voices dominate your discussions? Are you truly tapping into each team member's unique insights? Each of us carries a unique lens. Shaped by our experiences, needs, and values. But these perspectives need to be heard. Instead of sitting around and brainstorming, try working 'together alone'. ▶ Give everybody some post-its and a sharpie. Don't think in one group, but as individuals. This approach: 1️⃣ Gives everyone time to think independently 2️⃣ Allows for silent idea generation 3️⃣ Uses techniques like dot voting to democratize decision-making ▶ The results? More ideas. Better quality. And increased buy-in from your team. Want to learn how to implement this in your next meeting? "🚀 Boosting Creativity: How Brainstorming Works 🧠" Brainstorming is a powerful tool for generating fresh ideas and exploring a wide range of possibilities. It emphasizes free-flowing thinking, where even seemingly strange ideas are welcome. The key is to spark creativity and think outside the box. This method involves: • Clearly defining the challenge: Identifying the specific problem or goal to be addressed. • Bringing together a diverse team: Gathering individuals with different viewpoints to enrich the pool of ideas. • Encouraging open participation: Creating a safe space where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts without fear of judgment. • Building upon each other's ideas: Participants should actively listen, connect suggestions, and refine them collaboratively. • Keeping it focused: Setting a time limit ensures the session stays on track and avoids getting sidetracked. • Capturing everything: Recording all ideas allows for later review and analysis. Brainstorming sessions can be either loosely structured, allowing for free-flowing discussions, or more organized, utilizing tools like mind maps or structured participation strategies. Visual aids like whiteboards or sticky notes can further enhance the process by helping capture and organize the generated ideas. #BrainstormingTips #ProductivityHacks #collaborationtools

Why do I love #togetheralone #brainstorming? Let me count the ways! "Together-alone" is the kind of brainstorming that can feel a little quieter because people are writing down one idea at a time on a sticky note. The goal is to NOT self-judge or self edit and to generate as many ideas as you can in a specific amount of time. Why do I think it's a #gamechanger ? You generate more #ideas. 1) When people brainstorm individually first, they come up with a wider variety of ideas. This diversity is crucial for #innovation because it brings in different perspectives and solutions. 2) It gives #introverts a chance to think and share without having to ‘sell’ their ideas. In traditional brainstorming sessions, louder voices can dominate. Together-alone brainstorming allows everyone to contribute equally, ensuring that even the quietest voices are heard. 3) It fosters a more inclusive environment. By allowing individuals to brainstorm alone and then come together to share, you create a space where everyone feels comfortable and valued. This leads to richer discussions and #betteroutcomes. So, if you haven’t tried together-alone brainstorming yet, give it a shot in your next session. You might just be amazed at the creativity and collaboration it can unleash! #experiencedesign #designthinking #facilitation #bettermeetings #videotips

Unlocking Team Creativity ! Ever wonder why your team’s brainstorming sessions fall flat? Last month, I worked with a team struggling to generate fresh ideas. Their meetings felt forced, and creativity was missing. I introduced a simple "10 ideas in 10 minutes" challenge. With a time crunch and no judgment zone, the team unleashed their creativity. One “crazy” idea sparked a million-dollar project! The takeaway : Sometimes, it’s not about big changes—it’s about creating a space for ideas to flow. Want to try this with your team? DM me for a free session to guide you!

Brainstorming is more than throwing ideas around—it’s about creating a space where creativity can flow freely and purposefully. ✨ To maximize the value of a brainstorming session, structure it to encourage open thinking and build on each other’s ideas. Allow space for wild ideas, but also bring focus. For example, you can use prompts like “What’s a solution no one would expect?” or “How can we approach this problem from a new angle?” 💡 Brainstorming Tips: ➡️Set a clear goal for the session. ➡️Encourage unconventional ideas without judgment. ➡️Capture every idea—no matter how small or big. ➡️Wrap up with a quick summary and next steps. How does your team like to brainstorm?

One of the major challenges with brainstorming an idea is that people want to immediately evaluate the idea. It’s like playing “whack a mole” where creativity gets squashed with every suggestion. I was working with a team that loves to play “whack-a-mole." While I stated the traditional brainstorming ground rules, I also added one more to prevent this tendency to evaluate every single idea: “Be curious.” Here's what I mean: https://lnkd.in/dDcZ93Np #brainstorming #teamworktips

Happy first day of July! With a new month comes the opportunity for new ideas and creating new things. 💥 So how do you get going with it? Here are some ideas for brainstorming that leads to ideas and action: ➡️ Reflect on past successes and challenges ➡️ Set monthly themes ➡️ Use different techniques like mind mapping or reverse brainstorming ➡️ Have a 'worst idea' session ➡️ Make sure every team member is involved, because good ideas can come from anywhere ➡️ Consult your "idea bank" where ideas are continuously added (or start one) ➡️ Schedule time for writing down ideas at a certain time each day ➡️ Use games and creative exercises 📷And remember that your brainstorming sessions don't have to look as crazy as the one in this picture. Good ideas are there! ___ How do you brainstorm? Repost if you find this helpful so we can get more people in on the conversations to share their tips! ♻️ And make sure you're following me, Zach King, for more daily insights.
