When people talk about #indiehotels, they often think of luxury experiences aimed at adults looking for a high-end stay. But there’s a huge, often-overlooked group looking for an equally memorable stay.... families! More and more families are choosing boutique hotels for meaningful, memorable stays—and it’s a big opportunity for hospitality over the next few decades. Studies also show that younger, Gen Z parents prioritize family togetherness and experiences more so than any generation within the last 50 years! In this article, I highlight brands that are leading the way, such as Wanderland London led by Saar Shai and Alicia Zur-Szpiro. I also share about how we're trying to build experiences centered around families at The Ozarker Lodge in Branson, MO. Whether it's sharing a simple moment like a family hike, fireside meal, or personalized amenities and activities – these little touches help build lasting memories for families and will increase brand loyalty for generations. In this article, you'll read how family travel is growing and ways that indie hotels can make a real impact. #hoteltrends #hospitality

https://lnkd.in/dwvAwakB In the last few years and more recently i've been thinking how Gen Z is reacting to a generalized increase in the cost for travel and lodging and how to translate it in our investment decisions (underwriting in primis and deal financing priorities). The mood is bullish in the segment focused on serving this age but I guess that it's way more than revenge travel or low unemployment levels or fiscal forgiveness. Gen Z is throwing more money on hotels and experiences because they are priced out / they have given up from buying houses and cars! A great share of them are not saving or paying for the two biggest class of expenditures that previous generations have strongly given priorities to. Add to this postpones family decisions (like weddings and children) and suddenly they have more money on their pockets and less obligations for the future. I guess that it's a quickly changing behavioural shift with deep implications for our society and it turns up to the unsolved housing affordability challenge.
Generation Z is defying stereotypes – and they’re spending on hotels. “We can feel that the generation is spending money,” said Alastair Thomann, CEO of the Generator and Freehand hotel brands whose core demographic is guests ages 18 to 28. https://hubs.ly/Q02xGXgB0

Imagine boosting your hotel’s revenue by 85% during peak holidays—BnBerry clients are doing it, and here’s how. In 2024, as the hospitality industry enjoyed a post-pandemic travel boom, hotels faced a surprising dilemma. July 4th and Labor Day—prime opportunities to capture holiday revenue—brought mixed results. While millions hit the road, traditional hotel bookings couldn’t keep pace, with a 4.7% revenue drop over the July 4th week alone. Short-term rental (STR) platforms, however, flourished. BnBerry clients embracing Airbnb and Vrbo saw an 85% boost in RevPAR over July 4th and 84% growth during Labor Day weekend. What’s driving this shift? Travelers are increasingly drawn to the flexibility, unique experiences, and seamless bookings STR platforms offer. For hoteliers who partner with BnBerry, it’s more than a platform shift—it’s a strategic transformation. Our expertise in STR management enables hotels to stand out, attract guests, and capture significant holiday revenue. This holiday season, the difference between thriving and just surviving lies in this strategic shift. Coastal regions’ occupancy levels surpass pre-Covid levels in January …as hospitality industry continues steady recover and growth In the first month of the year, coastal regions emerged as the most sought-after holiday destinations, boasting an occupancy rate standing at 55.39% above pre-Covid levels, the highest among all regions. Hotel performance's reliance on weekdays and group demand speaks volumes about shifting travel patterns. Could this be the new normal? Weekday strength suggests business travel's resurgence, while weekend softness hints at changing leisure habits. Perhaps remote work is blurring lines, extending "leisure" trips into weekdays. For investors, this trend underscores the importance of location and target demographics. Urban hotels catering to business travelers might outperform leisure-focused properties. The luxury segment's ADR decline is intriguing. Are high-end travelers seeking alternative accommodations or becoming more price-sensitive? Adapting to these trends will be crucial for sustained growth in the evolving hospitality landscape. #HotelIndustryTrends #HospitalityInvestment

Embracing Unique Lodging Options: A New Era in Hospitality In recent years, the demand for unique lodging options has skyrocketed, transforming the way travelers seek accommodations. Gone are the days when a standard hotel room would suffice; today’s travelers are looking for memorable experiences that go beyond just a place to sleep. From treehouses nestled in the woods to converted shipping containers on the beach, the variety of unique stays available is astonishing. These unconventional accommodations not only offer a break from the mundane but also allow guests to connect with their surroundings in a more meaningful way. Imagine waking up in a cozy yurt, surrounded by nature, or enjoying a night in a historic castle, complete with tales of its past. Furthermore, this trend is not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating stories and experiences that guests will cherish and share. Unique lodging options often reflect the local culture and environment, giving travelers an authentic taste of the destination. This is particularly appealing to millennials and Gen Z, who prioritize experiences over material possessions. As hospitality professionals, we must embrace this shift and think outside the box. By offering distinctive accommodations, we can attract a diverse clientele eager for adventure and new experiences. This not only enhances guest satisfaction but also sets our establishments apart in a competitive market. In conclusion, the rise of unique lodging options presents an exciting opportunity for the hospitality industry. By reimagining what it means to stay away from home, we can create unforgettable experiences that resonate with today’s travelers. #UniqueLodging #HospitalityTrends #TravelExperience #SustainableTourism #MemorableStays #HospitalityIndustry
