Recurrent Energy announced the inauguration of the 446 MWp / 360 MWac Marangatu Solar Complex in Brasileira, Brazil. SPIC owns 70% of the project, while Recurrent Energy owns the remaining 30%. Developed by Recurrent Energy, Marangatu Solar Complex was fully energized in April 2024 after 14 months of construction. 75% of the energy generated is secured through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). The complex will generate enough electricity to power approximately 550,000 homes annually. Additionally, the project created around 1,500 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs. We are proud this project will positively impact the environment, the economy, and the local community. J6 Energia Renovavel Unveils Four Solar Power Plants in Trindade Municipality, Brazil J6 Energia Renovavel, a leading Brazilian renewable energy company, has recently inaugurated four distributed generation (DG) solar power plants in Trindade municipality, located in the state of Goias. Collectively named LIMIRIM, these solar systems boast a combined capacity of 5 MW, capable of generating clean electricity to fulfill the energy needs of approximately 500 households, as confirmed by local government officials. In addition to the solar power plants, J6 Energia Renovavel has outlined plans for further investments in the municipality. Vale has officially announced that all the electricity used in its operations in Brazil in 2023 came from renewable sources, such as hydroelectric, wind and solar power plants. Thus, the company has achieved its goal of having 100% renewable electricity consumption in Brazil two years ahead of schedule, which was 2025. Having reached the target, Vale has zeroed its indirect CO2 emissions in Brazil, which correspond to scope 2. The company still has the challenge of achieving 100% renewable energy consumption in its global operations by 2030. At the moment, this indicator stands at 88.5%.
