Mews co-founders Richard Valtr and Matthijs Welle, they introduced their amazing cloud-based software, changing how hotels work. With a whopping $1.2 billion valuation after raising $110 million from Kinnevik, Mews has officially become a new unicorn in the tech world, shaking up the hotel industry. Their product helps hotel managers run things smoothly and make guests happy. Valtr, who knows hotels well from his family, says it's important to make software that hotel managers actually want to use. Mews is doing really well, making $100 million a year, which is a lot more than before. Valtr and Welle want hotels to feel welcoming, not just places to sleep. People like Peter Lawrence(MEWS customer) from the Wythe Hotel really like Mews. He says it's like playing with digital Legos! With lots of employees and buying other companies, Mews is going to keep making hotels better for everyone. 🏨💻🚀 Follow The Inspiring Journey for more startup stories. #innovation #business #startup #startupstory #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurs #growth #motivation #inspiration #startupsuccess #news #networking #connections #community #ar #augmentedreality #technology #gadgets #software #hoteltechnology

Startups, by their very nature, are small. Of course, there are exceptions, but for the most part, our teams are small, our budgets are small, our revenues are small. What separates a startup from a small business though is the intention to grow big and to do so at speed. As the founder of a business that very much fits into the small category (<£1m revenue), I spend a lot of time thinking about the path to scale and what life could look like as a "big" business. I know that it's important to break things down into small chunks, that consistent effort compounds and to "do things that don't scale" at this stage, but it's always useful to have a sense of where you're going and what the world could look like when you get there. That's why, having spent the last week in Spain visiting vineyards, wineries and various other suppliers, I've returned with a renewed sense of clarity and focus. Almost all of the businesses we visited were big, but almost all of them were family-owned and had been operating for 50+ years. That's longer than most people reading this post have been alive. They didn't start big, but what they did was focus on the basics, delivered for their customers and made sure they were great places to work. All of these operations were inspiring and reminded me of the importance of occasionally stepping back and thinking about what things could look like in 5 / 10 / 20 years rather simply worrying about the next quarter or the next fundraise. Anyway, back to scrabble around for a single solitary seat at the co-working space...

#VoyagesAfriq In my previous article, I shared my thoughts and opinions on the topic “The dilemma of tourism startups as they scale up”. Having allowed readers ample time to ponder on some of the guidance and steer provided, I am hopeful that we are at this juncture today where we are over the dilemma and ready to grow exponentially. My thoughts today are mostly geared around the growth aspirations of a startup company and a critical path that a startup needs to reference when they are ready and eager to scale sustainably.- 🖊 Akwasi Obeng-Adjei 🔗 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHKd2f5N
