XA Network Expands into Africa with XA Africa to Support Tech Startups XA Network a prominent investment network founded by tech alumni in Southeast Asia, has announced the launch of XA Africa. This expansion aims to foster innovation and support promising African tech startups by connecting them with seasoned investors and industry experts. Founded by Nitin Gajria (former MD of Google Sub-Saharan Africa), Jason Scott (venture capitalist and architect of Google’s Black Founders Fund), and Marek Dawidowicz (Marketing Director at YouTube and South African native), XA Africa will focus on empowering African tech founders to tackle challenges and unlock opportunities across the continent. XA Africa aims to provide more than just capital, offering guidance and industry support to help scale startups. Notable investments have already been made in Nigeria’s Crop2Cash, Kenya’s BuuPass, South Africa’s Kaya, and Ghana’s Talamus Health. XA Network, established six years ago, has made nearly 100 investments in Southeast Asia. It is recognized for its unique approach, leveraging a network of senior leaders from major tech companies and founders to offer unparalleled support to portfolio companies. South African startups are making substantial contributions by addressing urgent societal issues in financial services, healthcare, and education, thereby improving millions of lives. The country's startup environment also attracts international investment, bringing in critical funding and expertise to expand companies and connect African markets to the global economy.

We are still buzzing from the excitement of the PowerUp Ukraine tech conference!  🤩 This summer, in partnership with Glovo Ukraine and the Ukrainian Startup Fund, we brought together leaders from Ukraine's top tech companies, venture capital executives, and industry experts at the PowerUp Ukraine. The event featured insights from MacPaw 🇺🇦, Horizon Capital, Jooble, Mate academy, SMOK Ventures, Glovo, Diia.City United top managers, and Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. A highlight of PowerUp Ukraine was the Glovo Startup Lab competition, where winners Getpin, Uspacy, and HOWCOW received a total of €35,000 from Glovo, with the first-place team earning an internship in Barcelona! Top Ukrainian business and tech media outlets, as well as international media such as La Vanguardia, IT Logs, and The Sunday Times, covered PowerUp Ukraine. The event generated over 12.7 million impressions in Ukrainian media alone! Most importantly, PowerUp Ukraine is set to become an annual platform for attracting international investment to Ukrainian tech companies and startups, while helping scale Ukrainian businesses beyond the country's borders. As Sacha Michaud, co-founder of Glovo and initiator of the PowerUp conference, said: “Ukraine is one of the largest markets for Glovo and, despite the war, continues to be one of our main countries for business growth.
